I am kind of obsessed with my teeth…to the point that it drives my husband crazy some days! Let me give you a little background into why my teeth are so important to me.

I had a gap between my front teeth as a kid, and I was always very self conscience of it. When I was about 14 a dentist filled in the gap and I was a new person! I felt I could smile without feeling ugly, and it gave me a ton of confidence…perhaps too much, as I’m sure my mom would agree!

Well, it worked, but it wasn’t the strongest, and it has broken 3 times since then, and I can remember each time feeling completely humiliated until I could get to the dentist to get it repaired. When it would break, it always only broke half way, so I had this weird jagged half tooth in between my teeth. I know, I know, vain people problems! Too me though, it was devastating.

The last time that it broke I was married and pregnant with my first child and we were at Finding Nemo with all of my husbands family. I went to take a drink of soda and the straw broke it. The straw! I didn’t talk to anyone as we left and went to the car in tears. I got into the first dentist I could and he fixed it…kind of. You could see the line, but at least you couldn’t see the gap.

After I had my second child I was at this sadistic, barely English speaking dentist in Portland, (I’m serious the guy was certifiably crazy, I have more stories to prove it) and he was supposed to be filling a cavity, but he took one look at the line in my teeth and without numbing me or any warning he broke it out. He said; “this ugly, I fix it.” I was scared out of mind! I mean seriously who does that?!? Well he went to work and fixed it, thank goodness, I was worried he was just going to tear it out and be like, “see, all better.” Luckily psycho dentist knew what he was doing and fixed it better than anyone ever had. He didn’t even charge me for it…thank you crazy man!

It’s held up for 8 years, and I take care of it like a precious pearl. I am a serial flosser, I carry it in my purse and floss whenever I feel anything in my teeth. I brush several times a day, and I don’t ever take a bite with the front of my mouth…everything on the side. Which means no corn on the cob, and I have to slice my apples, and I always put a straw to the side of my front teeth. I probably look crazy, (my husband confirms that I do), but I don’t care. Also when I go to the dentist to have my teeth cleaned, before I sit down in the chair I make sure everyone knows to treat those teeth with extreme care. I’m a spazz.

So you can see why I would be lying if I didn’t say I wasn’t ecstatic when I was asked to try out the Waterpik Aquarius Professional Water Flosser.

I am obsessed! I LOVE this thing! It flosses soooo much better than string floss! My teeth feel like I just got a dental cleaning after every use. It has a bunch of interchangeable heads so that you can get deep into your gums if necessary, and also a polisher and toothbrush head to get your teeth nice and smooth. I love the different pressures, so that you can turn it up on the places that need a deeper clean, and turn it down on sensitive areas…or just places you don’t want to blast a filling out of the middle of your front teeth.

It took me a minute or so to figure out how to do it, you have to keep your mouth open and let the water fall into the sink since you don’t have an assistant there to suck out the excess water. I found it a little easier to keep my mouth closed around it while I water floss and then turn it off and spit when I get too much water in my mouth, especially on the sides of my mouth. I also love that it has a massage mode, so that you can massage your gums. My gums have never been prettier!

I was looking at their website and reading about their company and was surprised to find out that they have been around for over 50 years! They were also the first people to come out with a massaging shower head back in 1973! Who knew? Anyway, I found it interesting to look through their timeline.

If you are looking for a FANTASTIC way to keep your mouth clean, and are even as slightly obsessed with your smile as I am than you really should try out a Waterpik Flosser, and if you buy through the Waterpik site, then you can get free shipping with the code FREESHIPWP660 (untill March 31, 2014.) I am looking at getting one for my kids, they aren’t the best flossers (or brushers for that matter) and I know this could really help save me some money on cavities down the road!

Have you tried a Waterpik Flosser before? Do you have a hard time flossing your teeth or are you a serial flosser? Let me know! I wanna talk about teeth!
