MAC has teamed up with 3 makeup maestros: Diane Kendal, James Kaliardos and Kabuki Magic; to form the MAC Makeup Art Cosmetics Collection. The collection comprises of beautiful colour cosmetics that reflect each artist’s style.
We were lucky enough to be sent a range of products from the MAC Makeup Art Cosmetics collection to share with you today. The whole MAC Makeup Art Cosmetics collection is huge, and instores now so definitely head in and check it all out as soon as possible.
MAC Kabuki Magic Retro Matte Liquid Lipcolour* – RRP: $55.00 NZD
I’m already a big fan of the MAC Retro Matte Liquid Lipcolours, so was excited to see them make another appearance in this collection. There are 4 shades to choose from, and the one we have is This Modern Age which is a mid-tone stone grey.
As well as being a completely unique shade, This Modern Age applies beautifully. The applicator is perfectly shaped to create a sharp lip line, and the formula goes on opaque from the first swipe. So impressed with this! If you’re game enough to wear a grey lippy, then you will adore this.
MAC Diane Kendal Glamourize Me / Cream Colour Shadow x 6* – RRP: $88.00 NZD
Apart from MAC Paint Pots, I have never used a MAC Cream Colour Shadow before, so I was super excited to try the MAC Diane Kendal Glamourize Me / Cream Shadow x 6 palette.
The 6 beautiful shadows inside are Glowing, which is a light gold pearl; Dynamic – a reddish-bronze with pearl; Alluring, which is a royal purple with pearl; Enigmatic – a reddish-plum with pearl; Daring, which is a navy blue with pearl and Rebellious, which is a deep blackened-brown with pearl.
These remind me a lot of the cream colour bases, meaning that they are emollient and stay slightly tacky. Because of this, they crease terribly on me, so I can’t wear them on their own. But I do love using them as a tacky eyeshadow base! They work great as that.
MAC Diane Kendal Studio Quiktrik Stick* – RRP: $78.00 NZD
The MAC Studio Quiktrik Sticks are double ended multi-use chubby sticks. There are 2 MAC Studio Quiktrik Sticks in the collection, and the one we have is Sheen / Smoldering.
The Sheen / Smoldering Quiktrik Stick has a very light pinkish champagne shimmer on one end, and a matte deep warm brown on the other. The matte brown is PERFECT for contouring, while the pinkish champagne shimmer makes for a very pretty, subtle highlight.
This was probably the product I was most excited about, and it didn’t let me down. I’m a huge fan of cream contouring, and this Quiktrik Stick makes things so easy. I just draw it on where I want it, and then use my Beauty Blender to blend it all in. So easy!
MAC James Kaliardos Lipstick* – RRP: $44.00 NZD
There are 4 MAC lipsticks in this collection, the 2 we have are Bloodstone and Jasper. Bloodstone is a bluish mid-tone red in the amplified finish, and is super creamy and pigmented. It’s a lipstick that I definitely need a lipliner with, as the colour can tend to bleed a little. It lasts for about 5 hours, and leaves a stain on the lips.
Jasper is a reddish-brown and has a satin finish. It’s not as creamy as Bloodstone, and for that reason doesn’t seem to bleed. It goes on opaque and is nicely pigmented. It lasts a good 6 hours on me, and leaves a stain on the lips.
MAC James Kaliardos Pressed Pigment* – RRP: $55.00 NZD
There are 2 of the MAC Pressed Pigments in this collection, the one we have is Black Grape. It is described as a deep aubergine with multi pearl. It has a warm purple base, with a silver glitter and is very pretty.
Applied dry, this is pretty unremarkable – it definitely needs to be applied damp or over a sticky base to show up. I applied this overtop of the Enigmatic cream colour shadow from the Diane Kendal Glamourize Me palette. It definitely made the pressed pigment show up more, and reduced fall out.
This is probably my least favourite product from the collection, even though it shows up quite nicely over the cream shadows, it’s just not as easy to work with. Unless you love the colour, I would pass on this.
MAC James Kaliardos Moons Of Saturn Full Face Kit* – RRP: $115.00 NZD
The MAC Moons Of Saturn Full Face Kit contains 2 cream colour bases in Rhea and Gypsum, and a sculpting powder in Natural Sandstone. I’ve heard mixed reviews about this, but I actually think this is awesome!
The Rhea cream colour base is a bright pink-coral shade, and works so well as a cream blush on the cheeks. It’s nicely pigmented, and can easily be sheered down or built up – depending on what you’re after. It also works amazingly under a powder blush, as a base.
The Gypsum cream colour base is a light golden champagne with fine silver reflects. It’s a gorgeous highlighter shade that looks great on the cheekbones and brow bone. It works best applied with the fingers, and can be layered under a highlighting powder for a more intense look.
The sculpting powder in Natural Sandstone is a light golden bronze shade, that can lean a little orange. Despite being so warm, this actually looks so good as a contour shade on my skin. I like using it overtop of the Quiktrik Stick to set the cream contour, and it works so well.

This whole MAC Makeup Art Cosmetics collection is well worth checking out, and if I was to recommend one product that you definitely need to pick up – it would be the MAC Diane Kendal Quiktrik Stick in Sheen / Smoldering.
