Hello, everyone!

This is my first hairstyling tool review. A big thanks to IMBB for sponsoring it. I have thin, easily damaged, limp and wavy hair – not a good situation, actually. Everyone likes thick and healthy tresses, either straight or curly. The wavy texture is something in between and difficult to style. I used to envy my friend who would flaunt shiny, straight or luscious curls on weddings and that’s when I decided to use a curling iron. Staying patient with rollers on my head isn’t my cup of tea, after all. So, let’s take a look at Conair Double Ceramic 1-Inch Curling Iron today.

My Experience with Conair Double Ceramic 1-Inch Curling Iron:

For beginners with curling irons, let me explain that there are several tools for curling your hair, including rollers, hot rollers, curling irons, curling wands and hot air brushes. We often confuse curling irons and curling wands, with the major difference being the clamp and the diameter of the barrel. Curling irons have a uniform sized barrel throughout and a clamp to hold hair which gives one sized curls. Curling wands, on the other hand, ask to hold the hair with your fingertips.

Definitely, curling wands have an edge over curling irons but what makes curling irons better for beginners? Safety! You have much more chances of burns with wands over iron. I have already defined my hair type. It’s prone to damage, so the main concern was to choose an affordable tool that would not cause much damage. Nowadays, ceramic, double ceramic and nano tourmaline curling irons and wands are making news because they cause less damage and come with heat control options. Nano tourmaline is costlier than double ceramic so, as a beginner, I chose this Conair Double Ceramic 1-Inch Barrel Curling Iron.

I had to undergo weeks of study before making my purchase; the third mystery being the barrel size. Curling irons come with barrel sizes: ½” for tight dense curls, ¾” is the most sold one with medium curls, 5/8” and 1” for wavy and bouncy curls, and 1.5-2” sizes for loose curls. The most recommended one for beginners is 1-Inch barrel, which is also the most versatile one to work with.

Now talking about the Conair Double Ceramic 1” Barrel Curling Iron which comes in a secure plastic case with detailed labels and a protective heat shield inside (black, made of thick fabric). The copper coloured barrel is made of double ceramic and engraved with Conair labels and barrel size. Conair Double Ceramic 1” Barrel Curling Iron has 30 heat settings and is operate-able on 120/240 voltage settings. The max heat is 375°F which is great for my thin hair, but newer launches are offering up to 475°F for thick and coarse hair types. The power buttons and heat setting are appropriately located with least chances of hitting them while curling hair.

It has a thumb rest, a portion on to hold it without touching hot barrel and auto- off function. The 1” curling barrel gives me medium and bouncy curls. I work within 15-25 heat setting because of thin hair but thick, coarse hair would need to touch the 30th setting easily. Conair claims that this iron gives long lasting bouncy curls. This claim is true but with a setting spray. Since the double ceramic delivers even heat with minimum heat damage, it makes hair silky, somewhat shiny and defines the curls as well. The curls last up to 8-10 hours without a setting spray.

The styling process is fast but the barrel cools down while you have worked on one hair portion. Hence, you need to reheat and curling becomes a time taking process. The two things I will like to mention about this curling iron is that while the clamp makes curling easier, it leaves an unwanted bend on hair tips which you need to fix at the end; yet it is unsatisfactory, in my opinion. The positive aspect of this curling iron is that you can work, holding the barrel upwards, which is really safe.

Pros of Conair Double Ceramic 1-Inch Curling Iron:

• Available in various barrel sizes.

• Double ceramic material distributes even heat and offers the least damage to hair.

• Gives silky, smooth, medium sized bouncy curls.

• Easy styling method, safety from burns.

• Travel-friendly.

• Curls last up to 10 hours without a setting spray and longer with a setting spray.

• 375°F heat, dual voltage.

Cons of Conair Double Ceramic 1-Inch Curling Iron:

• The clamp leaves a bend at the tips.

• A setting spray is required to make the curls last 18 hours.

• Cools down faster than expected.

• 375°F might not work for thick and coarse hair types.
