Best Dressed Celebrities at Arpita Khan’s Wedding Reception
Hi Beauties,
We just witnessed a real Big, Fat Indian wedding. Arpita Khan got married to a Delhi-based businessman Aayush Sharma. For those who missed all the bandwagon, let me start from the start.
Arpita Khan is the adopted, youngest sister of filmstar Salman Khan. Her father, Salim Khan is one of the greatest script writers of his times, who along with Javed Akhtar; made the memorable Jodi of Salim-Javed; and wrote many blockbuster movies. The pair was responsible for carving “An Angry Young Man” out of Amitabh Bachchan. Salim Khan married Sushila Charak (aka…Salma Khan)…and they have four kids; namely Salman Khan, Arbaaz Khan (m. Malaika Arora), Sohail Khan (m. Seema Sachdev), and Alvira Khan Agnihotri (m. Atul Agnihotri). Salim Khan married Helen in 1981; and the duo adopted an orphan girl; namely Arpita Khan. Arpita, is the most beloved, youngest sister of the family; and is currently working in a leading architectural and interior design firm. Arpita had, much earlier, supposedly expressed her wishes of a fairy tale wedding to her Salman Bhai; and her entire family made sure their darling daughter got it. Arpita and Aayush have been dating each other for some time; and even have their beloved’s name tattoed on their arms. We wish both of you a very happy married life.
Arpita Khan’s Haldi , Mehendi and Sangeet, culminating with the wedding extravaganza took place at the royal Taj Falaknuma Palace in Hyderabad on November 17th and 18th, while her reception was held at The Taj Lands End Hotel in Mumbai on November 21. It was an extravagant affair; and attended by many relatives, well-wishers, and celebrities; both from inside the Hindi film Industry and out of it. Many of them flew to Hyderabad to bless the couple; while many decked up for the Mumbai reception. From the pictures, it seems that the boys had a formal black dress code for the evening; while the ladies adorned in a traditional Indian get up. And who can best flaunt traditional Indian wear than us Indians; right. Here are some of the photos from the reception day; let us find out who were the most stylish, yet elegantly dressed people in the reception.
Our bride…Mrs Arpita Khan Sharma: She looked gorgeous in a light green with pink lahenga-choli; resplendent with minimal jewellery. I loved this avatar, much better than her wedding up-do; where her hair was tightly turned into a bun; and her jewellery was way too much. Her dress, at the reception was understated, yet elegant; and showed off her dusky attractiveness to perfection; and she herself was looking so happy with a carefree and relaxed attitude. Her dress was made by Falguni and Shayne Peacock; while hubby looked dashing in a black tuxedo.
Malaika Arora Khan: Who can say she is 41 years age and a mother of a kid. She is beautiful, breathtaking, and I love her poise in each and every social appearance. She looked absolutely gorgeous in a white dhoti-sari, along with a web pattern blouse.…designed by Sonaakshi Raj. The eyes were kept quite neutral and her lips were painted a bright fuchsia pink, totally appropriate for the occasion. The jewellery was naturally kept quite minimal, with huge danglers so as not to distract anyone from the beauty of the saree and the lady (as if any one could). If there ever was a thumbs up….it was made for her.
Amrita Arora Ladakh: I have never liked her dressing sense until now – when she wowed everybody, with her coral saree, golden blouse, and minimal jewellery. Simple is beautiful and she looked absolutely gorgeous in it. A definite thumbs up. Thank you Amrita.
Huma Qureshi: Ethereal – that’s the word for her. She looked beautiful in her white lehenga-choli; with a white transparent odhni; and minimalist jewellery. Her face looked natural, fresh and divine; with just an adequate pop of plum on her lips. Gorgeous!!! Definitely a thumbs up.
Jacqueline Fernandez: Though her dress was quite stylish, I did not like her dressing sense and makeup. She is looking so tired; her nu*e lipstick does not look good…and J…what is that with all the frills. It’s not your reception out there! And why was she always posing like a model. See her pictures; and in each of them, she is posing with her hands on the hips. Come on J; I know this is a celebrity party, but do remember, this is not a ramp walk and you are not the center of attraction. Definitely a thumbs down!
Divya Khosla: Wife of T-series biggie Bhushan Kumar; she looked extremely gorgeous. Draped in a pale saree, with a peacock like aanchal; and her blouse…totally inspired; but looking…O..M…G….so very gorgeous. Again the accessories were minimal with large earrings; she looked almost like Anne Hathaway. We give her a thumbs up!
Sonakshi Sinha: One look at her and you put your pens down. That’s an amazing red dress she is wearing; but where is the shape; where is the cut? Why is it such a shapeless piece of a beautiful garment. And Sona…why are you looking so tired. Vibrant red dress with pale pink lips do not go well on her at all. A big thumbs up.
Mini Mathur: No comments. I don’t know what she was wearing or why she was wearing it. Next please!
Karisma Kapoor: Simple, Beautiful, Elegant… Thumbs up.
Bhavna Pandey: Wife of Chunkey Pandey; she always looks good in her outfits; and she has not disappointed here as well. A plain, pale pink saree; with a heavily embroidered silver blouse, with a golden neck piece, a silver bindi and bold lips, not everyone can carry this, but she did. A definite thumbs up.
Shraddha Kapoor: Loved her simple look in this plain saree sans any accessories and makeup at all, but she did look beautiful, in her own pretty yet different style.A big thumbs up
Lara Dutta: Perfectly made up as only a beauty queen can, her saree was also quite gorgeous, but what about those jewellery. Are they really needed?
Parmeshwar Godrej: Looks her best in stylish western wear, looked quite uncomfortable in the saree draped in the “Seedha Pallu” way. No, she did not look stylish, though she wanted to be, with her fuchsia saree and silver blouse…the ensemble was good; but the carriage was not, she looked very uncomfortable in it. Have we seen someone wearing along the same lines and looking good in it…eh????
Ellie Avaram: Aaahh..here’s a tricky one. Her makeup was perfect, but the rest of the ensemble was OHH..so…boring. Green Bandhej saree with orange blouse and a lots of “chatakdaar” jewellery…was actually expecting something different from her. Nayyyyy…not this Ellie…..We expected something more, Thumbs down.
Gauhar Khan: She looked beautiful in her red and blue lehenga, a thumbs up here.
Natasha Poonawaala: A socialite, she looked splendid in the Abu Jaani-Sandeep Khosla creation. She looked stunning, a thumbs up.
Anu Dewan: A socialite, looked very pretty in her white ensemble…absolutely gorgeous.
Tanya Deol: Appeared with hubby Bobby Deol and looked ravishing in a Bengali style white and red sari, a juda, and a bid round bindi. Her blouse was slightly off shoulder and she carried it perfectly. Gorgeous. A definite thumbs up!
Avanti Birla: Too much make up, in a backdrop of Indian wear has ruined her looks. She is not in the running for traditional Indian wedding style.
Amisha Patel: God, please save her. What is she wearing? In the midst of all pale chiffons and georgettes; she almost stands out…alone. The color is nice, I must admit; but you should be able to flaunt that color ; girl!!! No rating at all.
Dia Mirza: I love her, always. Her dressing style always suits her fragile and beautiful looks; and she did not let us down here. The yellow anarkali with full sleeves, and the big danglers; those were the standout of this attire. Though Dia has repeated such attires in many functions before; she is indeed looking beautiful here. A definite thumbs up.
Sangeeta Bijlaani: Saw our Bijli after a long time; age is indeed showing on her face. She looks lovely in the blue saree; in a quite understated way. Good going gal…thumbs up!
Zarine Khan: Why do Bollywood celebrities just see a camera and want to pose. Okay darling, your ensemble is good; in fact great. But you will always be Zarine Khan, never Katrina Kaif, so don’t sulk. Okay, we will give you a thumbs up.
Manyatta Dutt: She looked beautiful in the black and red solid colors saree, matched with traditional jadau jewellery and a bold lip. Her figure was looking top notch; and she was her usual charming self. A big Thumbs up from all of us.
Avantika: Wife of Imran Khan, she played safe and looked charming in the black salwar she wore to the wedding. She is a new mother and we can excuse her weight gain for that; but Avantika, you really need to now start losing some weight. Okay, from all the moms in the world, a definite thumbs up. By the way, did you contact Malaika????
Genelia d’Souza: I feel that she is indeed the best of the lot. She looked absolutely amazing…looks absolutely natural. She is on the threshold of motherhood; and that shows on her face. It is glowing with radiance and an inner sense of love and contentment. The young lovebirds looked so happy together, the chemistry they share is so romantic, “awww nazar na lage” – a definite thumbs up.
Nita Ambani: Always an ensemble of poise, grace and elegance and beauty, however, much had to be said about her makeup. Bold eyes with even bolder lips don’t make a good combination and it made her look more matronly and plastered up than she actually is. She was seen in a traditional white and red salwar suit and the dupatta draped on one shoulder; with her husband along with her. They make a very nice couple even now and always have an united front to the world. Kudos!
The big brothers: All the three brothers have worked equally hard to make this function an unforgettable one for their laadli sister. Here are the three bros, in black tuxedos, with a various shades of blue colored shirt.
Just for gags:
Salman Khan supposedly asked Katrina Kaif to dance; and when she refused; he immediately apologized and asked Katrina Kapoor to kindly join in the merriment.
Katrina Kaif got a kaleera from Arpita Khan’s wrist, so do we really hear some wedding bells?
Salman Khan got down at Arpita’s feet begging for a kaleera. Whether he got one or not is the million dollar question
Arpita Khan got very emotional while reading out her speech; so much so that Priyanka Chopra had to help her out in completing the speech. Arpita said that she is the luckiest girl in the world; having such great family behind her; and her three brothers were her three pillars of strength. All the brothers also got emotional hearing this….Awww…so sweet
Aamir Khan and Kiran Rao actually did an impromptu song and dance on the song “Aati Kya Khandala.” Similarly, Shah Rukh Khan hugged Salman Khan, blessed his sister; was present in Mumbai functions and entertained everyone by dancing to “Chaiyya chaiyya.” Salman Khan too joined in. Salman Khan danced on the song “Jumma Chumma de de”…among many others.
Salman Khan was seen with his latest love interest; Lulia Vantur, 34, a model of Romanian descent. The couple have been seen together many times and she was seen at all the family functions during this wedding. She shares a great rapport with every person of Salman Khan’s family.
Relations between the three Big Khans seemed most amiable, hugging each other and blessing Arpita.
Garishly missing in action were Ranbir Kapoor, Abhishek Bachchan and papa Amitabh Bachchan. However, the formalities were done by other members of their family.
Salman Khan has reportedly gifted his most “laadli” sister a 3BHK terrace flat; very close to his home; supposedly worth a bomb.
Hope you have loved this fun post of mine. There might be disagreements over who is stylish and who is not; and I totally accept that. I apologise in advance to anyone who has been hurt or disappointed by my post, this is just a fun post and the deed was not done intentionally. Take care everyone. Bye.
