It’s been a while (maybe, like a week?) and therefore I must say it: Holy Hannah Montana Miley Cyrus, it’s Friday! Oh man, that felt so good, but probably not as good as it’s going to feel once 5 o’clock rolls around and it’s time to put on the ol’ trusty Party Pants. I’m ready to Friday, are you? Let’s roll!

Local country-rock duo Pitch Black Ribbons, featuring brothers Cody and Clint Phipps, bring their toe-tapping tunes to the stage of the Montsweag Roadhouse in Woolwich this evening. Check out the fellas’ free, all ages acoustic sets as things get started around 6 o’clock.

The son of Woody Guthrie, Arlo is a treasured contributor to the Americana genre through his captivating storytelling, which includes his famous Thanksgiving anthem, Alice’s Restaurant. Beginning at 8, this captivating act offers up an evening of music from the Middle East and Turkey using  such unique and beautiful instruments as oud (fretless Middle Eastern lute), qanun (72-stringed Middle Eastern micro-tonal zither), nay (ancient Middle Eastern reed flute), as well as Middle Eastern percussion.

We Were Promised Jetpacks will be making a stop in Portland tonight at Port City Music Hall as they tour in support of their third album, Unravelling.
