I’m not sure about you guys, but I pretty much made Wednesday bow down before me and understand that no matter how hard it tried to smack me around, I wouldn’t let it. I’m feeling so good in fact that I’m thinking about carrying that theme straight on in to tonight and kicking off the weekend a day early just because I can. There’s lots of Thursdaying to be done, so let’s do it to it!

The lovely and talented Monique Barrett will be performing a free show at b.good on Exchange Street in Portland this Thursday evening. Starting at 7 you can enjoy some delicious food and terrific live music as Monique sets up shop with her acoustic guitar and plays her original soulful folk tunes right on through the 9 o’clock hour.

Get your Thursday night started out right with some fun tunes courtesy of singer-songwriter Michael Krapovicky as he plays a free show at Gritty’s in Auburn. Michael will be performing both original songs as well as some well-known covers at tonight’s event, which gets underway right around 7!

Steve Jones and a few friends will be making some noise up at Rooster’s in Augusta this Thursday evening. Jones blends everything from rockabilly, country, old-time rock and roll, Americana, roots and more to create some mighty fine sounds that are guaranteed to please. If you’re in the area be sure to stop through and have some fun as things get started at 7.

Frank Donovan, of local rock-reggae act Brothers Donovan, goes solo and acoustic tonight for a performance at Andy’s Old Port Pub on Commercial Street in the Old Port. Swing through and check him out as tonight’s free, all ages show gets underway at 7 o’clock.

Before it starts to get chilly out there, make sure you’re checking out some awesome outdoor activities such as tonight’s show over at Slab on Preble Street in Portland. This Thursday the tasty Sicilian-styled pizzeria welcomes back their resident house band, Monarck Lisa for some good tunes and times. Tonight’s free patio party gets started at 7pm.

Local psychedelic folk-rocker Dominic Lavoie and a few of his friends come together tonight to play some tunes as Keanu Keanu up at The Liberal Cup in Hallowell this Thursday. Starting at 7 check out this free show that’ll include both cover jams and originals, so grab some pals, enjoy a couple cocktails, and let Dom and the gang serenade ya!

Boz Scaggs, the dude responsible for always getting the “Lido Shuffle” stuck in my head, will be bringing his Memphis Tour to the Collins Center for Arts in Orono this Thursday evening. Scaggs gained attention in the 60s as guitarist for the Steve Miller Band as well as through several Top 20 hits during the 1970s. He brings his exploration of R&B, rock and jazz to the stage starting at 7 o’clock tonight.

The Rhythm Kingz will be getting things swinging at The Cage in Lewiston tonight for this week’s installment of Blues Night. The party starts at 8 and features a full evening of local blues, so be sure to swing through if you’re in the area this Thursday.

Santa Cruz instrumental electronic rockers Sound Tribe Sector 9 will be taking to the stage of The State Theatre in Portland tonight. Since forming 15 years ago, STS9 has pretty much done it all from headlining stages at huge festival, selling out shows across the country, performing with Jay-Z, running their own record label and using their voice as platform for change by raising money towards many different activism efforts. Check out these do-good electro-rockers as they do their thing starting at 8.

Toronto-based indie-rockers, Zeus will be at SPACE Gallery in Portland tonight. The group came together in as the backing band for Broken Social Scene member, Jason Collett and finally become their own independent project in 2009. Their new record, ‘Classic Zeus’ draws on all things fun, funky and sunny, melding 60’s psychedelica, Beatles-y bubble gum pop, southern soul and a contemporary spark into a sound entirely of their own. They’ll be joined by Portland’s own chamber-pop septet The Penny Arcade, rock-pop-R&B electro-freak out act KGFREEZE, and rock n’ roll outfit The Get Real Gang, which features former Dr. Dog member, Juston Stens. Get those Party Pants primed for good times as things get rolling along right around 8 tonight.

Tonight I will be staying up past my usual 8pm bedtime to have my face melted off by a trio of awesome rock and roll acts over at Port City Music Hall in Portland. To say I am excited would be an understatement. That being said, make sure you get there early when doors open at 8 so you don’t miss local act Murcielago as they bring the thunder to the stage with their hard-hitting, bluesy, 70s-style stoner rock. Those fellas will open things up for Nashville rockers, Diarrhea Planet, who despite their crappy (HAR HAR) name are actually pretty awesome. Headlining tonight’s show is Nashville duo JEFF the Brotherhood, featuring, of course, brothers Jake and Jamin Orral. The pair blends a mixture of indie, punk, garage and psychedelic rock together for a treat that’s guaranteed to please the ol’ earholes. I’m gonna party like a girl that doesn’t have to wake up at 4:30am on Friday morning, so feel free to join me on this rock and roll adventure.

Sonny’s in the Old Port hosts ultra-swanky musical duo Humperdinck Humperdink and Glass Joe (aka local musicians Corey Gagne and Pete Dugas) live in the lounge this Thursday. I have heard nothing but rave reviews about this terrific twosome who blend equal parts Bowie with Radiohead for a sound…and style…that is truly all their own. Check it out for yourself as tonight’s free shindig gets started at 9 o’clock.

Local pop-rockers, Kilcollins are back on the stage of RiRa in downtown Portland tonight as they get the rock n’ roll party started right around 9 o’clock with a mix of original material and cover tunes. It’s a free and guaranteed fun show, so check it out if you’re in the Old Port this evening.
