Since you guys seemed to enjoy my March Makeup Bag post, I thought I'd show you what's in my Muji storage for April. I keep a separate set of 2 Large Acrylic Drawers for the makeup I'm currently using and on top of it I have an Acrylic Organiser from Amazon.
So, let's start down in the bottom drawer. I won't bore you too much with the usuals, as these have become regular staples I've talked about a lot. I use the Bourjois Healthy Balance Compact Powder (£8.99) every day to reduce shine in my t-zone without leaving my face looking flat or cake-y. I have also re-discovered Benefit's Erase Paste (£20.50, review here) in a big way, which had been lying unused for ages. It's a salmon-toned corrector, which I have in Shade 3 Deep, and I like to use it under my eyes to cancel out the darkness before taking a little bit of a concealer that matches my foundation to blend everything in. It really helps to stop me needing to layer on a really thick concealer under my eyes. Speaking of that area, I'm slightly addicted to setting my under-eye concealer with the banana-coloured powder in the Barry M Chiselled Cheeks Contour Kit (£6.49, review and swatches here). It really brightens the area, prevents creasing and stops your concealer wearing away if you have an oily eye area like me. The contouring shades are also really great; super-smooth and easy to blend.
I've not been that, that into eyeshadow this month to be honest, so the Collection Eyes Uncovered Palette in Nude (£3.99, review and swatches here) has been doing it for me. They're just pretty brown and cream tones, which aren't reinventing neutrals but look very pretty on the eyes. Other than this, I always have a cream shadow or two in there. There's the KIKO Long-Lasting Stick Eyeshadow in 06 Golden Brown (£6.90, review and swatch here). I wax lyrical about these all the time, so I'm sure you know I love the creamy texture and amazing colour pay-off of these. Golden Brown is sort of an antique gold shade, so I'll blend it across the lid for a wash of colour, use it as a base or as a lower-lash eyeliner. For a more evening look I've been using the Maybelline 24-Hour Colour Tattoo in Sleek and Spice (no longer available, swatch here), which is a cool-toned bronze-brown shimmer.
The e.l.f. Eyelid Primer in Sheer and e.l.f. Wet Gloss Clear Brow Mascara (no longer available) are always in there so I won't repeat myself, especially as e.l.f. has been discontinued in the UK! I use them every day (so I'm going to have to start ordering these in from the US) and you can read about them here. The next two products (both included in my Top 10 Under £10) I've been using daily this month are both from Soap and Glory, a brand I've really discovered a love of lately. The Supercat Eyeliner (£6, review and swatch here) is just the perfect inky-black, non-transferring product to get the perfect feline flick. The Archery Brow Pencil (£8) is a double-ended product with a super-thin pencil at one end that twists up, so you don't have to worry about keeping it perfectly sharpened all the time, and a spooly on the other end. I find I can create a really natural brow with this not-too-warm-toned product.
Of course no post of mine would be complete without a bit of glow. I've been using the Topshop Glow Pot in Gleam (£9, swatch here) as a cream highlight almost constantly, as the golden tone and the beautiful texture works so well on the tops of my cheekbones. As a setting powder, I've really enjoyed using the Bourjois Java Rice Powder (£9.99, swatch here) as it gives a subtle, flattering glow. I've also been getting my glow-fix in the form of the Max Factor Creme Puff Blush in Alluring Rose (£8.99, swatch here), which is a highlighting blusher in a gorgeous copper-rose colour I think is perfect for medium-to-deep skin tones. How many times can I use the word 'glow' in on paragraph? At least once more, as my foundation of the moment is Nars Sheer Glow (£31, review here). I really fall in and out of love with this; sometimes I feel like it looks awful, others I wonder why I ever took a break from it. At the moment I'm in a 'love' phase as I think the coverage is really flawless and is radiant without adding to my facial shine problems. Stromboli is also a great colour match for me at the moment.
The rest of my current 'power base' is also in this top part of my storage. I always come back to Benefit's the Porefessional Primer (£24.50, review here) as nothing quite masks my pores like it. Over the Erase Paste I've been using Maybelline's Instant Eye Erase Concealer (£7.99, review here), or whatever it's called (I can never get the longest product name in the history of the world right). I love it as it practically blends itself without creasing and gives a good coverage. For blemishes of course it has to be my trusty Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer (£22, review here), which blends in so well with Sheer Glow.
I have a couple of mascaras; Maybelline's Lash Sensational (£7.99, review here) and Seventeen's Falsifeye HD (£6.99, review here). Lash Sensational is, as I've mentioned several times, my favourite drugstore mascara as I find it adds some serious volume, as well as a great curl. The Seventeen mascara, I've been loving for my lower lashes due to the thin and easy-to-manoeuvre wand.
Sheer lips are definitely going to be 'my thing' this Summer, I can tell already! Firstly I have the Clinique Chubby Stick Intense in Curviest Caramel (£17), which is my first ever chubby stick, believe it or not! It's a really nice pink-brown nude that's more pigmented than the shades in the standard line. I've also got the Lipstick Queen Saint Rust (£20), which I have a post coming up soon on! It's a sheer lip colour in a sort of rust-brown-brick-red colour that I'm really enjoying right now.
Finally I have a few miscellaneous products I've been using a lot this month. There's the Barry M Speedy Quick Dry Nail Paint in Pit Stop (£3.99), which you can see in action here. It's great to have a product that does what it says it will and the shades in this line are the perfect Spring pastels. I almost exclusively use my Zoeva brushes these days, to be honest! I have both the Original Rose Golden (review here) and Rose Golden Volume 2 (review here) Sets (£55 each) and use them daily. I really love the Silk Finish Brush with the Nars Sheer Glow Foundation and the Concealer Buffer is perfect with both the Maybelline and Nars concealers. The eye brushes are also just incredible and I can't rave about them enough. Lastly, I keep a fragrance in the little compartment towards the back which is currently Diptyque's Eau de Toilette in Philosykos (£75 for 100ml, review here). It's a gorgeous fig-gy scent I'm completely addicted to.
