You may not be aware but when you first boot up your newly purchased Apple device, bet it an OS X like an impressive iMac computer or MacBook pro laptop, or an iOS device such as an iPhone or iPad, you will be asked to enter in an email address. In most cases, this email address will become your Apple ID.

What is your Apple ID

Your Apple ID is your unique personal username that you will require if ever you wish to purchase, download or do anything to do with Apple in the future. For example you will need to enter in your Apple ID when logging into your iTunes account, purchase and app or download a free game off the App store. You will need it when you phone up the Apple customer support helpline and will even be asked for it if ever you decide to have a career at an Apple store. Your Apple ID is very important.

Can I Change my Apple ID?

It is nice to have the freedom to change and upgrade our email accounts. Perhaps you have purchased a domain and wish to use yourname.com as your primary account, or maybe Hotmail is boring and you wish to switch over to an yahoo account or perhaps an crazed ex has hold off your old email address and is bombarding you with past photos and plea messages.

Whatever the reason, it would be nice to upgrade your email account whenever you like – but what would happen to your Apple ID? Of course it would make sense to have your Apple ID connected to your primary email address… Well luckily you can easy edit and reset your Apple ID.

How to Change my Apple ID

You can alter the email address of any AppleID, as long as it does not end with either @icloud.com, @me.com, or @mac.com.

1.) To kick start your quest to change your Apple ID, you have to make sure that you are not logged into any account that requires your ID. So log out and close down any applications like as iTunes, iCloud, App Store, iMessages, FaceTime and FindMyPhone etc.

2.) Now you need to pay the ‘My Apple ID’ web page a visit. Click this link here https://appleid.apple.com to be taken.

3.) In the second column you will see two big blue buttons. Select the top one titled ‘Manage your Apple ID’.

4.) Next sign in. (Forgotten Apple ID Password.)

5.) Go ahead and select the ‘Edit’ link next to the option ‘Apple ID and Primary Email Address’.

6.) Enter in your new preferred primary email address. This will become your new Apple ID.

7.) Select ‘Save Changes’. Now Apple will send that a confirmation email over to that added address.

8.) Hop over to your email account. Check your inbox for Apples message.

TIP - It can take a few minuets for the message to arrive in your inbox. If you are still twiddling your finger after 10 mins, check your spam box.
