You might think that the only available option to visit the Italian coast is the summer months. It might be that you weren’t able to get holidays, or that you couldn’t afford to take the whole family away. Or maybe the prospect of staying in a packed hotel wasn’t exactly the dream holiday you had in mind? In any case, today we would like to bring you some suggestions to visit Amalfi in the colder months for a lot less than you think. Self-accommodation can work out for less than you think in many cases, and there are many villas and cottages in Italy which would make a lovely base to explore the region and visit the many interesting areas.

Amalfi Coast

High season in Amalfi can go from April to October. However, temperatures remain mild and agreeable even into November. Don’t take us wrong: if what you really want is a beach holiday and you have been thinking of lying on the beach every day, probably November won’t cut it. However, if you want to mix a little bit of tourism and shopping with some calm days reading with a glass of wine, sat in the garden, with the occasional swim in the pool of your Amalfi Coast villa, then Autumn might well be the best time for you to visit this gorgeous part of Italy. There are also many fabulous festivals that you can enjoy: watch amazing fireworks at the the many autumn festivities in the area, or have a taste of many different wines in the Tramonti festival!

While you are in Amalfi, do not forget to make time to visit the gems of this region! Pompeii, Herculaneum, Paestum and Naples are all within easy travelling distance and if you are feeling adventurous you can also jump on a ferry and get to Ischia, a beautiful little island just a few miles into the sea.
