The imposing height of Maku Plaza overlooks the busy Awolowo Road Ikoyi. Inside this large building is situated Vinci Hair Clinic. Except for a signpost outside the building, it is unbelievable that a hair clinic is there.
As I was ushered into the office, Ayo Otubanjo, director, Vinci Hair Clinic, Nigeria was seated behind his desk. He warmly welcomed me as I placed the tape between us and it started to spur.

Otubanjo observes that most hair salons in Nigeria lack the expertise when it comes to handling clients’ hair. “I actually went around some salons in Lagos to have a firsthand experience of how hair is treated. I was shocked that those working in these salons leave relaxers on their clients to attend to other things making the relaxer stay on their clients’ hair longer than the stipulated time written on the bottles of relaxers. This could totally damage the clients’ hair. Normally, relaxer isn’t supposed to stay till its starts burning the scalp. It is dangerous.”
