2016-01-31

In January, we finally got the cold weather that we had been expecting all Winter, and I don’t know about you but I’d have been quite happy to hibernate for a few days ;-). No chance of that though as this month was as busy as ever. To bring a bit of cheer to the dark days, we’ve teamed up with Bloomon to give you the chance to win one of 3 bouquets, read on to find out how to enter.

CULTURE VULTURE
The Saatchi Gallery’s new exhibition, Champagne Life, is definitely worth a visit and I’ll be writing about that and the Natural History Museum’s Wildlife Photographer of the Year Award at a later date. We also popped into the Boat Show at the Excel Centre, it was fun going on board the yachts, some of which are surprisingly spacious.

SOCIAL BUTTERFLY
I have to admit that Made in Chelsea is one of my guilty pleasures so when Mr Luxe mentioned that he’d got us tickets to a Masterclass with the cast and producers at the Picture House Central cinema, I was thrilled! Two of the main stars of the show, Binky and Ollie, gave us the lowdown on what goes on behind the scenes, it was fascinating. Later in the month, I popped into The Lanesborough for a luxury hotels showcase arranged by Mason Rose. It was looking lovely thanks to its recent renovation.

STYLE FILE
If you’re like me, then your skin gets really tight in the colder months. I try to combat the dryness with regular facials and I’ve recently been lucky to try two effective ones, a Face Matters facial at Fenwicks and a Hydra Facial at Waterhouse Young. I’ve followed up by using Ananné Regeneratio Skin Repair at home. This luxury vegan organic skincare range from Switzerland has been designed by neuroscientist Professor Urs Pohlman who has identified the skin’s essential requirements. All the ingredients are natural and even the classy packaging is recycled. The Regeneratio mask claims to stimulate the skin’s natural regeneration process, thanks to its active ingredients including extracts of papaya leaf and borage seeds, pure oils from cape chestnut, sea buckthorn, rosehip, moringa, and meadowfoam seeds. It certainly seems to have rebalanced my skin, making the pores less noticeable and leaving it looking smoother.

TRAVEL TALES
We had a wonderful stay at luxurious Lords of the Manor hotel in the Cotswolds, and the Michelin starred restaurant was a real treat. Later in the month we visited ultra stylish Shepherd House in Faversham, Kent. It certainly gave me lots of design inspiration! The South of France is equally inspiring and I loved compiling a list of 10 of the most glamorous destinations on the French Riviera. At this time of year, I’m usually itching to book trips for the year ahead, so have been researching 10 of the most luxurious travel destinations in 2016 and top 10 trips for travel companions.

WINING AND DINING
I’ve just had an incredible lunch at One-O-One Knightsbridge which showcased not only their head chef Pascal Proyart’s cusine but also that of Michelin starred Mark Jordan from the Atlantic Hotel in Jersey. Another place with a thriving restaurant scene is Monaco and this month I shared our memories of Beef Bar, Les Perles de Monte-Carlo and Maya Bay with you. Closer to home, we had a meat feast at Barbecoa in St Paul’s and a tasty Italian dinner Caffe Caldesi in Marylebone. I met up with a bevy of wonderful bloggers at Mr Fogg’s Tavern for cocktails, ignoring dry January ;-). One of my favourite recent discoveries is the Turkish cuisine at Oklava in Shoreditch. There’s something very innovative about their small plates and the desserts are not to be missed.

COMING SOON IN FEBRUARY
I’ll be heading to Switzerland, reliving my engagement 6 years ago in Luzern and visiting picturesque Lugano and Zurich. To banish the Winter blues, I’ll also be sharing all the details of our stay at Monastero Santa Rosa on the Amalfi Coast in Italy.

I’m excited to say that we have not one but three luxury bouquets to give away this month, thanks to innovative Dutch florists Bloomon.
