Boston
History, culture and New England charm await visitors at one of the oldest cities in America. Boston is packed full of historic sights which are best viewed by foot (or Segway!) from the 2.5-mile Freedom Trail, a red brick road weaving through the city, telling the story of the nation’s revolutionary past. The distinctly European vibe and Georgian architecture stems from the city’s English settler roots back in 1630, however skyscrapers and contemporary museums add a touch of modernity. For foodies, the Waterfront overlooking the bay is regarded as one of the finest seafood regions in the country, serving up fresh oysters, lobster and other tasty seafood treats.
Washington D.C.
Millions of visitors each year visit Washington D.C., primarily to marvel at the National Mall. This state park is home to majestic monuments and monoliths including the Lincoln Memorial, Washington Monument and of course, the White House. A trip here wouldn’t be complete without viewing these legendary sights, although you’d be wrong to think that this is all there is to see. The city is renowned for its culinary delights including the world famous Ben’s Chili Bowl, where even President Obama has enjoyed their smokey, chili hotdog. If it’s nightlife you’re after, head to U-Street for 8 blocks of live music, bustling bars and world class comedy.
New York
New York, New York – so good they named it twice! The cosmopolitan city is synonymous with glitz, glamour and showbiz and is one of the most iconic cities in the world. The island of Manhattan is packed full of memorable landmarks, from the neon lights of Times Square, to the leafy pathways of Central Park. Enjoy designer shopping down Fifth Avenue, unforgettable sights such as the Empire State Building and the Statue of Liberty, world-class entertainment at Madison Square Gardens… truly the list is endless. New York is a place people should really see to believe and in our opinion, should be on every travelers bucket list.
Chicago
Known as the Windy City, Chicago has a reputation to be reckoned with. At the commercial heart of this diverse metropolis lies The Loop, the downtown area of Chicago which hosts many of the city’s top attractions. Here, culture vultures are treated to the likes of the Art Institute and Millennium Park where you’ll find the famous Silver Bean. When it comes to cuisine, you’ll be spoilt for choice. Chicagoans excel in deep crust pizzas with layers of toppings which resembles more of a pie than a pizza. Treat yourself to some of the best at Pequod’s Pizza in Lincoln Park.
Miami
The vibrant city of Miami feels more like Latin America than the States. Over half the population are Hispanic, bringing with them exotic flavours, flair and samba style. Bask in the sun on the legendary South Beach while sipping cocktails or take shade in the Art Deco District with tons of eye candy for the art enthusiast. Wynwood Walls is certainly worth a visit, featuring a collection of murals and paintings which typify the city’s bright and zesty character. Miami boasts some of the best nightlight in America and is home to world-famous festivals including Ultra and Winter Music Conference. The city comes to life when the sun goes down and has a seemingly infinite number of venues to dance until dawn.
Orlando
Moving up-coast from Miami, Orlando is the perfect choice for a fun-filled family holiday. Located in the Sunshine State, Orlando is the theme park capital of the world and is a kid’s dream destination with Universal Studios, Islands of Adventure and Disney Land to name a few. Besides the parks, there are an abundance of activities especially for outdoor enthusiasts. Kayak down Wekiva River, golf at one of the regions many first-class courses, or take to the ocean for a deep sea fishing excursion. Whatever your tastes, Orlando is a playground for children and adults alike.
San Francisco
San Francisco offers visitors a taste of the good life. Its undulating hills and colourful architecture create a stunning backdrop for your West Coast city break. Opened in 1937, the Golden Gate Bridge is an excellent spot for photography, a scenic walk or a casual bike ride which you can rent from all over the city. Head to Fisherman’s Wharf for unforgettable views of Alcatraz prison or alternatively, take in the sights from the sky in one of the city’s iconic cable cars. Down by the bay, there’s lots of activities to enjoy as well as mouthwatering seafood. At just a dollar each, Bar Crudo on Divisadero has the most delicious oysters in the Bay Area.
LA
Los Angeles is the perfect destination for those seeking a beach and city break throughout the year. Even in the winter months of January, temperatures rarely reach lower than 70 degrees. Take advantage of this weather on Venice Beach and soak up the rays while enjoying the host of wild entertainment on offer. Hollywood Boulevard is a must-see, where you can search for your favourite stars on the Walk of Fame, catch a movie at the Chinese Theatre or hop on the Beverly Hills sightseeing bus tour. Petrol heads are only a short drive from the Pacific Coast Highway which is regarded as one of the best driving routes in the country. Alternatively, take a trip downtown for some retail therapy at one of the many trendy vintage stores. If you have the cash to splash, Rodeo Drive is a fashionista’s dream with high end designers such as Gucci, Prada and Chanel.
Las Vegas
Las Vegas isn’t called Sin City for nothing, but there is so much more to this exciting city than its debaucherous reputation. The entertainment capital of the world is famous for gambling and millions flock to The Strip each year in hope to win big at casinos such as the Bellagio, Venetian and MGM Grand. Be sure to catch one of the many spectacular shows on offer here such as Cirque du Soleil or variety of world-class musicians. Tickets often sellout fast so make sure you book in advance. The cheapest time to travel to Las Vegas is between November and January, the crowds are depleted and the weather is refreshingly cooler.
