Lucerne Valley Elementary School held its annual Math and Science Night last Thursday evening.
The event serves as a partnership between students and their parents. For projects, students implement the scientific method while presenting a question and ending with a conclusion statement. The Poster Titles at Family Science Night were intriguing, pondering many interesting questions. Each poster described a hypothesis, the methods students used to answer their question, and the results.
For example, one student set out to prove if chewing bubble gum makes you smarter. After following the scientific method, the student’s conclusion: Yes! More conventional projects also were displayed by students.
The local business community, most notably Lucerne Valley mines, lend a hand. Helping out with the Science Fair were Omya California and Women in Mining. Mitsubishi Cement Corporation Educational Foundation contributes annually to the LVES Science Camp. Students find ideas and resources at websites such as ScienceBuddies.org.
