The series began in 2004 and since it’s debut in 2009 on Lifetime Project Runway has broken ratings records. Host Heidi Klum is joined with Fashion designer Michael Kors and editor Nina Garcia on her judging panel. Each week one contestant is eliminated until three are chosen to display their line at New York’s Fashion Week. The show is attended by dozens of celebrities. Season 12 will premiere July 18, 2013. The designers of Season 12 are Alexander Pope, Alexandria Von Bromssen, Angela Bacskocky, Bradon McDonald, Dom Streater, Helen Castillo, Jeremy Brandrick, Justin LeBlanc, Kahindo Mateene, Karen Batts, Ken Laurence, Miranda Kay Levy, Sandro Masmanidi, Sue Waller, Timothy Westbrook and one returning designer from a previous season of Project Runway.
25 year old Helen Castillo is form Union City New Jersey. She doesn’t look like your average fashion designer. The beauty is covered in tattoos and has several visible body piercings. But her don’t let her intimidating appearance fool you, Helen is extremely creative and has the ability to be one of the most innovative designers. Like contestant Dom Streater she lacks the experience that her competitors have. She is a beast with using couture sewing techniques and works well with soft and light fabrics like organza and silk chiffon which most designers shy away from. But Helen is still extremely skilled. She has a Bachelor’s degree from Fashion Institute of Technology. Helen lives to design and takes her art form very seriously. But will that be enough to be the winner of season 12 Project Runway?
