The Board of Trustees consists of 20 people who help make decisions for the University. Since their decisions affect all involved with U of L, The Cardinal wrote this guide to introduce the Board to our readers.
Marie Abrams graduated from U of L in 1959. Abrams has served several terms as a trustee and has been appointed by three governors.
Bob Benson, a former member of the Kentucky House of Representatives, is an alumnus of the U of L School of Law. Benson has held many board positions including the U of L Alumni Board of Directors, U of L Foundation Board and U of L Athletic Association Board.
Laurence Benz is the President and CEO of PT Development. Laurence also served as a Captain in the Army Medical Specialist Corps, where he received the Meritorious Service Medal. He is currently also on boards for the Foundation of Physical Therapy and University Medical Center.
Dr. Emily Bingham is a historian who graduated summa cum laude from Harvard University. Bingham is an author and scholar.
Jonathan Blue is the Managing Director and Chairman at Blue Equity. Blue also serves as the Chairman and CEO of The Antilles Group Limited. He has been a trustee since 2006.
Ron Butt is an Investment Adviser and Senior Partner of ARGI Financial Group. Butt served as OSJ Manager at National Planning Corp., and Board Member of KHEAA. He received the 2004 Businessman of the Year award from the National Republican Congressional Committee.
Stephen Campbell is Global Head of the Financial Institutions Groups at Lazard Ltd. Campbell is a trustee of River Fields, The Museum of America and the Sea and Kentucky Governor’s Scholar Program.
Dr. Kevin Cosby is the senior pastor at St. Stephens Church and is president of Simmons College. Cosby was named “Louisvillian of the Year” in 2007. He topped “Louisville Magazine’s” list of Top Ten Religious Leaders in Louisville.
Douglas Hall is the Executive Vice President and Co-Founder of Evergreen Rehabilitation. On the side, Hall is a competitive triathlete and multiple Ironman.
Brue Henderson is Co-Owner and President of Henderson Services. Henderson is a U of L ECE alumnus. He is a member of the ECE and U of L Advisory Boards, as well as the U of L Board of Overseers.
Dr. Robert Hughes is a graduate of the U of L School of Medicine. Currently, Hughes is on the Board of Directors for University Hospital. He is a member of the U of L Board of Research Foundation, and is President of Primary Investments.
Angela Lewis-Klein is a contract specialist for the U of L Clinical Research Division.
Brucie Moore is an alumnus of the U of L School of Law. Moore is a County Attorney for the Union Country Fiscal Court, and was awarded the 2008 County Attorney Award.
Jody Prather is an alumnus of the U of L School of Medicine. Prather is the Vice President and Chief Medical Officer of Baptist Healthcare System. He is also a member of the U of L Research Foundation Board.
Robert W. Rounsavall III is an executive with Dixie Real Properties. Rounsavall serves on the U of L Foundation and Hospital boards. He is a recipient of the U of L Presidential Medal.
Debbie Scoppechio is the Chairman and CEO of Creative Alliance Inc. She serves on the U of L College of Business Board of Advisors and U of L Board of Overseers.
Dr. Joe Steffen is the Director of Graduate Studies and associate biology professor at U of L.
Steve Wilson is the co-owner of 21c Hotel, and founder of Kentucky Bison Company. Wilson is also the owner of the Hermitage Farm. He served as President, Vice President and Chairman of the Board of the National Bison Association.
Phoebe Wood has been a Principal of CompaniesWood and served as Vice Chairman and Chief Financial Officer at Brown-Forman Corporation. She currently serves on the Boards of Directors of Leggett and Platt Incorporated, and Coca-Cola Enterprises Inc.
Monali Haldankar is the incoming SGA president, thus earns a spot on the Board. Haldankar is a psychology and biology double major.
