The JRE School of Management hosted a successful Digital Marketing and E-Commerce Symposium. At the center of discussionwere the latest trends in digital advertising, mobile marketing and social media strategies in the wake of current negative growth market conditions.

The symposium sought to provide participants with a networking environment as well as give them a chance to learn about global innovations and trends from the experts. With the growth of internet in India, digital marketing has assumed a central role in cost- effective marketing. Having a global reach at a lower cost, digital marketing is proving to be the best bet for entrepreneurs in the ongoing currency crisis. It provides results that can be easily tracked, measured and hence improved.

The event saw a host of prominent leaders from the industry speak at the event. The inaugural address was delivered by Mr. D. Sivakumar, Former APAC Head, Nokia Corporationand President- AIMA.MrSivakumar gave insights on digital mediums and how it will impact future industries. He enlightened students with the concept of information arbitrage, product convergence and experience convergence.

The keynote address was also delivered by Mr. AshishKapur, MD, Yo! China,who spoke brilliantly on how digital mediums are helping to increase business and leverage Voice of Customers (VOC). The next address was by Mr. JayVikramBakshi Founder and CEO, Digiqom Ventures whospoke on the relevance of mobile marketing in social media and offered wonderful insights on how online and offline always merge at some point. Mr. RohitChadda – FoodPanda and Mr. YashishDahiya, Co-Founder, Policy Bazaar in his closing addressgave valuable insights about business planning and robust growth strategies in the digital and e-commerce space.

The panel discussions were on two topics-morning panel discussion on “How digital marketing is creating jobs even in the times of economic slowdown” , moderated byRitesh Singh, Former Creative Director- Starcom and the afternoon panel discussion ‘Challenges in the field of E- Commerce’ moderated by Umang Kumar, CEO Gaadi.com.

This symposium was a culmination of a four week long extensive effort by JRE students who worked on different aspects of digital marketing and e-commerce projects each week over the last month.  Students were assigned projects of promoting brands of companies like Policybazaar, Yamaha, Shopabhi.com and Sotialize.com.

The winning teams project was ’How to promote Yamaha through Social Media marketing’ presented by JRE students Raspinder, Zain, Charu, Vijay, Vishal, Yogisha. Umang Kumar, Co-Founder & CEO- Gaadi.com,speaking on the winning Yamaha Presentation said, “The‘13 years 13 star’ concept presented by the students is commendable and we would love if students implement the same concept at Gaadi.com too’.

MrYashishDahiya, Co-founder and CEO, Policy Bazaar.com said, “ The ideas presented by the students are phenomenal and I would recommend my team to work  with these students. We would also want these bright minds to join us in future”

Talking about the symposium, Mr. Harpreet Singh, President- JRE Group of Institutions, said, “JRE has a defined exposure program to allow students a chance to interact directly with experts from the industry. With the shifting gears of Indian economy, e-commerce is emerging as one of the most cost-effective ways for both established and new players to reach out to their target segments and  markets. This is a field which holds promise for budding entrepreneurs and our students got a first-hand idea of the promise and potential of the industry through this symposium.”

With a plethora of industry insights, inspirational addresses and interactions with some of the best minds in the industry today, ‘Digital Marketing & E-Commerce Symposium’ was an invaluable experience for students. The sessions enabled participants to gain first-hand industry opinions and insights and encouraged them to delve deeper and analyse social media, e-commerce and digital marketing.
