Bangalore : Ending the year on a cultural note the students at Orchids-The International School today organized the mega event ‘Incredible India’ depicting the vast culture and heritage of India through various activities like dances, skits, traditional dress, visual arts etc. Parents and other dignitaries of the school were invited to witness the mega event.

The warm welcome with a ‘Vermilion tilak’ and a namaskara gave the event a traditional touch. This was followed by various cultural performances showcasing various facets of our incredible country India. The posters and charts showcased the creative wingspan of the children. The charts depicted the history and importance of Indian monuments like Taj Mahal (UP), Mysore palace (Karnataka), Victoria Memorial (Kolkata), Sanchi Stupa (MP), Charminar (AP) etc.

The energy, enthusiasm and ambience of the event were in the true spirit of oneness. This insightful program was organized to instill awareness and nourish the students about the Indian culture and values.

The dazzle of the folk dances like Bharatnatyam, Kathakkali, Koochupudi, Yakshagana, Mohininattam all showcased by the students of grade I of Orchids were laced with such creative zing that parents were left gasping for a “once more”. Energy fused festivals like Durga Puja, Pongal, Ugadi, Onam, Diwali, Christmas, Eid, Baisakhi, by the students of grade III wowed the audience. The day was a social and cultural combination of talent and creativity.

The Parents encouraged the children for the event. All 33 students from grade five presented the program which was readily accepted and appreciated by the parents and other dignitaries attending the event.

Talking about the unique initiative by the students, Ms. Pushpa Prasad, Dean Academics said, “We believe in facilitating our blooming Orchidians with the very best in Education. We have created a melting point of culture, tradition, festivals and secular values at Orchids. Learning means much more than classroom teaching and academic laurels. Our focus is on building destiny for our students to grow as innovators and thinkers. ”

Parents of Albin, Nikhil, Sanya and Abipsa from grade five added “This cultural display of talent portrays the greatness of our Indian culture. The students did an excellent job of showcasing the richness of our culture. Would also like to thanks Orchids teachers who helped and guided the students to put together such an amazing event for us.”

The megha event celebration ended with the singing of the National Anthem. The parents of the students who were present were indeed beaming with pride for their children were part of an institution. All in all it was a remarkable day with parents, teachers and students coming together for a cause thus making it an event to remember.
