TweetPer multiple reports, the Dallas Cowboys have decided to cut star defensive end/linebacker Demarcus Ware.
According to Pro Football Talk Dallas did not designate Ware as a post June-1 release, meaning that releasing Ware will save Dallas $7.4 million in cap space. Ware was due to make $12.75 million in salary for 2014 and would have counted for $16 million on Dallas’s salary cap at age 31, making him a prime candidate for either a contract re-structure or release. Jerry Jones chose the latter.
Ware has spent his entire nine-year career with Dallas and is the franchise’s leader in career sacks with 117. His release makes him a free agent and eligible to sign with any team he chooses.
