SDL Language Technologies is a leading global provider of software technologies and solutions in our domain.

We are looking for a focused technology Manager to lead the North American team delivering SDL’s cloud and hosting infrastructure services which underpin our market leading SaaS offerings to a global blue chip audience. Key expectations for this role will be to deliver maximum uptime for the environments, whilst developing a scalable and agile architecture against which agreed roadmaps can be set to meet the on-going priorities for the business. A particular requirement is that the cost of infrastructure scales at lower incremental cost than the business revenue scaling.

Core Responsibilities:

· Maintain a class leading cloud & hosted infrastructure which exceeds SLA expectations.

· Ensure the design and architecture of the hosted infrastructure delivers the correct level of scalability, economics and agility to meet the business needs

· Manage the provisioning of infrastructure capacity to support the needs of the business both on a day to day basis and to support the strategic needs of the business, ensure robust provision of service delivery from the organisation

· Ensure the effective utilisation of cloud environments, private and public such that these services are delivered in the most cost efficient way in line with SDL product strategy

· To collaborate with the application development teams to ensure the robust delivery of new releases, service packs, for the SaaS and customer specific instances to ensure a high level of service excellence. Ensure outstanding project management of change and in particular ensure transition to new model occurs without customer or revenue loss impact

· To  also work very closely with customer services, customer support, professional services and other key business stakeholders to ensure service delivery is tracked, correct project change management, escalations etc

· Implement consistent and robust support, service and change processes and documentation in line with the ITIL framework ,ISO 9001/27001, data protection standards

· Manage a team of technical staff with the associated responsibilities of performance management, budget tracking and service delivery

· Ensure there is the requisite DR plans are in place to meet contractual SLA’s as well as internal expectations

· Work with stakeholders to define the correct infrastructure design per application group.

· Ensure compliance to IT security and other policies and procedures whilst at the same time looking to enhance these to support changing internal and external needs

· Work closely with the global procurement director to ensure on going reduction in the non-people cost of infrastructure and define contractual strategies to reduce incremental cost of scaling

Experience and Qualifications:

· Can demonstrate experience in delivering global mission critical hosted platforms (SaaS, IaaS, PaaS).

· Experience in using Public Cloud services and associated toolsets (eg. Rightscale)

· Experience in working with globally distributed teams, both in-house resources and 3rd party partners

· Strong technical background with an appreciation of the full OSI stack from physical to application.

· Is passionate about customer service and right first time principles

· Is able to demonstrate strong planning and co-ordination skills

· Able to prioritise activities based on circumstance and communicate issue, resolution, action with clarity

· Has outstanding leadership, team management, and communications skills

· Recognises the importance of open communication with the business.
