There’s something utterly magical about New York, and it’s not just because I’m from there. You can call me biased because I was born in NYC and currently call it home, but the fact remains that New York is many things to many people. And most often, it is considered both the center of the universe and the mecca of the fashion world. Too much? Maybe, but I don’t think so.
Ask nearly anyone you know and it’s likely they’ve got a strong affinity for the Big Apple. And, if nothing else, it’s a great place to do some serious shopping. Located on a charming, tree-lined street in the West Village, WANT Les Essentiels’ New York boutique was conceived as a way to restore an intimate, warm and trusted shopping experience within the frenetic retail landscape. Curated by the brand’s co-founders and designers, Byron and Dexter Peart, the space draws guests into a beautiful townhouse, designed to resemble the layout of one’s home. European mid-century furnishings, American minimal art, and eclectic worldly treasures accent the boutique while still highlighting the building’s historic features. #2. Larsson & Jennings
Anglo-Swedish watch brand Larsson & Jennings opened their very first U.S. flagship this summer on a picturesque stretch of Bleecker Street in the West Village. The space includes a unique cantilevered watch bar, LJX customization area and a fika bar for customers to enjoy a cup of coffee while they browse the brand’s entire Swiss-Made collection. This boutique references the rich cultural and architectural history of the surrounding neighborhood through polished concrete and white stucco.

#3. TOMORROWLAND
Situated in the heart of SoHo, the first U.S. store from Japanese fashion powerhouse TOMORROWLAND incorporates the brand’s own men’s and women’s collections, along with a curated selection of niche apparel, accessories and lifestyle brands from Japan and around the world. At approximately 3,500 square feet, the landmarked, pre-war building’s original features, such as majestic interior columns, are juxtaposed with bold, custom-designed rugs and ample skylights, highlighting the spacious interior that conveys both timelessness and modernity.

#4. Han Kjøbenhavn
The Han Kjøbenhavn boutique on Prince Street in Nolita has its roots in classic, minimal Danish aesthetics. With the aim of creating a visually spectacular room rather than a classic shop environment, clean white walls have been outfitted with custom wooden fixtures and marble highlights, all handmade by the owners and/or Danish craftworkers. The store houses the brands distinct eyewear collection along with denim, high-end streetwear and accessories, all inspired by the fundamentals of Danish design. Additionally, a curated selection of architecture and design books are available for purchase.

Since its creation in 2002, Maison Kitsuné has successfully established itself as a favorite amongst fashion and music insiders. A French fashion Maison with all the tradition that implies, it carefully selects only the most luxurious materials from Japan, Italy and France and redefines classics with illustrious clothing for men and women. The brand’s 1,000 sq foot U.S. flagship store, located in the NoMad Hotel in New York City, evokes the ambience of walking into a Parisian apartment, with its towering steel-framed oval windows illuminating the classic custom made furnishings, silk carpets, polished marble, mosaic tiles and patterned wood flooring.
