Wait, what do I have to do again?
To get your $5 credit, please do the following:
1. You as the “Referrer” need to set up a Loot Crate account! You don’t have to subscribe to a crate yet, but you do have to at least sign up to receive our newsletters (Plus, you’ll get awesome geeky updates from those!)
2. You send your friend a Referral. You can do this in one of several ways:
a) You can email your personal referral URL (i.e., “pURL”) to your friend directly and ask that they click on it prior to purchasing their subscription
b) You can post your pURL to your social accounts and ask your friends to click it
c) You can log in to lootcrate.com and refer a friend via the Refer-a-Friend widget (can be accessed from “My Account → Refer-a-Friend → Store Credits → Refer a Friend button OR at www.lootcrate.com/share
3. After your friend clicks your pURL or the link in the email you send via the Refer-a-Friend widget, they have to purchase one of our many crates, including Loot Crate, Loot Crate DX, Loot Wear, Loot Anime, Loot Gaming and more!
4. Wait… Your friend’s first crate must SHIP before your credit is applied.
5. You will receive your $5 credit the month AFTER your friend’s first crate actually SHIPS.
That’s it! Then just “rinse & repeat” ;)
Can I apply my $5 to ANY crate?
Nope, sorry - not yet. We will apply the reward automatically to your oldest active recurring subscription. So for example: If you subscribed to Loot Crate and then Loot Crate DX later, and you referred a friend, the $5 credit will be applied to your Loot Crate account.
Can I pick WHEN to use my $5
Nope, sorry again - we’re working on this option for the future. For now, $5 will be applied to your NEXT billing cycle after we validate your friend’s purchase.
When should I see the money credited to my account?
The month AFTER your friend’s first crate SHIPS from our warehouse. Yes, that means it may take up to 2 or even 3 months before you see your credit, depending on when your friend purchased in our crate cycle or if the crate they ordered is a monthly or bi-monthly subscription. We’re working to make this turnaround shorter, but for now you will receive it by this time!
Is there a limit to this thing?
Nope! Refer as many friends as you want! As often as you want! Earn as many $5 credits as you can! Four referrals in the same month will about equal one free crate on your end, so go for it. :)
When will I know I have a Credit?
Just go to My Account. Then click the Store Credits tab. You should see a count of the credits you’ve earned. Just remember again, it may take up to a month after your friend purchases a crate for you to see your credits!
So what happens if I refer 10 friends in 1 month, will it carry over?
Yup! Let’s say you refer 10 friends and accumulate $50 in credits in 1 month, and your crate is like ~$20 / month. Then you would get that month’s crate free… and still have $30 left. Then, the following month, you would get that month’s crate also free… and still have $10 left… and so on, until you run out of reward credits.
Are you gonna email me when my credits are applied to my account?
No, sorry, You’ll have to log in to your account and check the number of credits we’ve applied so far in the “My Account” –> “Refer a Friend” –> “Store Credits” tab. We are working on setting up a system that will inform you when your credits are added to your account.
What happens to my credits if I cancel my account?
Well… if you (“referrer”) cancels your account, you would lose out on receiving the reward if you deleted your account all together. However, if you simply paused your subscription, then the credits would just accumulate and activate after you resume your old subscription or buy a new active subscription. Either way, even if you do cancel your account, your friend would still get their $5.
Wait… so when do I get my credit, how does that work again?
So your credit will get applied to your (referrer) account on the month AFTER your friend’s first crate SHIPS. So if you refer a friend, and the friend signs up the next day but it takes a month before we ship their first crate, then you will see your reward a month after that (so about 2 months after you sent that referral). It is a month after we physically SHIP their first crate. Your friend (referee), on the other hand, will get their $5 on their first crate.
So what if I have a 6 month billing cycle, will my credits just add up?
Yup! You will accumulate your credits until your next billing cycle hits and they will all get applied at once up to the amount of your bill. Any remaining credits will carry over to the next cycle.
Can I use the credits to get cash?
Nope, can’t trade for cash, sorry.
Can I transfer the credits to my friend’s account?
Nope, can’t transfer credits, sorry.
Can I use the credits in the Loot Vault?
Nope, not yet - can’t use your Loot Crate credits in the Loot Vault just yet, but we’re hoping to make that happen in the near future.
Can I use the credits toward a specialty crate?
Sure! However, you can’t have any other active subscription crates. But if you don’t have any other crate subscriptions or your other crate subs are paused, and you have credits and you decide to buy one of our awesome limited edition speciality crates, those credits will apply to that one-off crate!
Can I split my credits to be applied to two separate bill cycles?
Nope, sorry, not yet. Straight up: there isn’t much customizability (e.g., splitting / choosing how to apply credits and to which crates) at this time. This is a feature that we are working on as part of a broader initiative to revamp our “My Account” / “Store Credits” section. So we definitely hear you and are planning on changing it for the better in the future.
How will you know my friend signed up through ME?
Your personal referral link - a.k.a. pURL - is how we’ll know to give you the credit (and your friend) for the referral. If your friend doesn’t click your pURL link and does not come to our website through either the pURL, email or Social post that you put up, then we won’t know to attribute credit to both of you for the purchase. They have to click that link before they purchase a crate to get the $5 off and for you to get your $5 credit.
