No long range hunting for me, as a disable hunter/veteran my time is running out to be able to hunt. I started late, I married into a family where my wife family hunted, fished and camping. Originally from Minnesota the whole family move to Alaska in the 1970s and the 1980s. I got my first rifle 1989/10 a Remington 700 300 Weatherby Mag. 1991 February/March, I went on my first hunt to King Salmon Alaska, and shot my first caribou with that Rem. 700 300 Mag. I started reloading and reading about reloading, and came across an article on the Weatherby Mark V chambered in 300 Weatherby Mag with a 26" BBL. I saved my ducketts, and bought the real rifle for the 300 Weatherby Mag cartridge. I would love to say that I've shot a lot of game, but I can not. Job and time and money. I'm retired but I still love the HUNT, I've got a hunt to Texas for five days hog hunting plus Axis deer (doe) for 2014, no 300 Weatherby Mag, I'll be taking Tikka T3 300WSM, and if everything goes good for a family member, 2015 I'll be taking my airboat up north for caribou. I've got the time, and some green backs. I hope that "no" caribou will be no farther than 200 yards for me and my hunting partner. For someone who started late, I believe that one Remington rifle multiplied into many. Good Shooting.
