When the weather is cold outside, and the kids are itching for something fun to do, why not take advantage of winter and go ice skating? Families can easily find plenty of options when it comes to indoor and outdoor ice skating rinks on Long Island. Many of these places also offer classes for kids and adults – call the rink for schedules. There are tons of rinks on Long Island and we’ve highlighted a few of our favorites in Nassau and Suffolk Counties.

 

 

Nassau Indoor Ice Skating

Long Beach Ice Arena

Long Beach Ice Arena offers public sessions, skating school and parties. They also have a “Tots Learn to Skate” program for children ages 3 and 4 years old.

Iceland

Iceland offers public sessions, skating school and parties. Children can skate with Iceland’s Penguin Mascot during the children sessions. They also offer a Boy and Girl Scouts discount during selected sessions.

Nassau Outdoor Ice Skating

Marjorie R. Post Community Park Ice Rink
Marjorie R. Post Community Park Rink offers both public and group sessions. Admission is free for children ages 2 years old and under.

Suffolk Indoor Ice Skating

The Rinx
The Rinx has two indoor ice rinks to choose from. They offer public sessions, skating school, group sessions and parties. They also offer a “Pre School Academy” for children ages 2-5 years old.

Superior Ice Rink
Superior Ice Rink offers public sessions and parties as well as group and private lessons. Children ages 3 and younger skate for $5 which includes skate rental.

Suffolk Outdoor Ice Skating

The Arches at Tanger Outlet
The Arches offers group skating, public skating, parties and skating lessons. If your child is in kindergarten through grade 8 and receives an “A” average on his or her report card, he or she will receive free admission (must show report card). Monday nights are “Cheap Skate Nights” and Friday nights are “DJ Nights.”

The Rinx at Harborfront Park
The Rinx in Port Jefferson offers group skating, parties and public skating, all overlooking the beautiful Port Jefferson Harbor. They have a “Discount Pass” offer where if you buy six skating sessions you will get one free.
