Atlanta, GA, and Boston, Mass (PRWEB) June 27, 2014

FisherBroyles LLP (FisherBroyles), a high-growth, national, full-service, cloud-based law firm, accelerates its expansion with the opening of an office in Boston, Mass., and the addition of two new partners, Edward J. Gildea and Lara Phimister.

“With its concentration of startups and financial services providers, Boston is a logical choice for our firm’s continued growth,” said Kevin E. Broyles, co-managing partner of FisherBroyles. “Ed Gildea and Lara Phimister are well-qualified to help the firm develop its presence in Massachusetts and bring a unique approach that aligns both the interests of clients and attorneys,” he added. The Boston office is based downtown in the Independence Wharf at 470 Atlantic Ave.

Gildea brings with him more than 30 years of experience as both an entrepreneur and in-house counsel, having worked with investment banks, hedge funds, private equity firms, venture capitalists, and regulatory agencies as both a lawyer and a principal. Most recently he was the CEO, president and chairman of the board of Converted Organics Inc. (COIN).

Previously, Gildea served as a vice president of legal affairs for the Kellogg Company. He held executive management positions at two successful startups and is the acting CEO of a business just exiting reorganization proceedings. He also sits on the boards of directors of four publicly traded companies.

A graduate of Yale Law School, Phimister has more than 10 years of experience as a corporate transactional attorney at large international firms. Prior to joining FisherBroyles, Phimister was vice president and in-house counsel at Wellington Management Company, a global investment adviser. She also spent eight years at WilmerHale in Boston as well as in the New York City and London offices of Cravath, Swaine & Moore.

In the United States, Phimister has represented limited partners of private funds as well as fund managers in the formation of private funds and of investment in portfolio companies. Correspondingly, she has significant experience advising startups and emerging companies on formation and angel and venture capital financing matters. Phimister has also advised social enterprises and charities on a range of issues including the creation of for-profit and non-profit hybrid structures.
