Ascert announces new product version and testing focus

Sausalito, California (PRWEB) January 07, 2014

Ascert announces the general release of VersaTest Automator version 1.8. The release, which was demonstrated to Ascert’s customers at last November’s User Group held at the Royal Observatory in London, contains a number of new features. "The increased usage of VersaTest in large scale certification solutions has driven the features of release 1.8." says Simon Miles, Ascert's Product Architect for the VersaTest product line. "We understand in these scenarios that finer control on the individual user’s view of and interaction with the product is critical to enhancing the operation of the product." Enhancements to the product included in version 1.8 mean that individuals can now configure the interface to be ideal for the tasks they need to perform most often and so improve their efficiency.

As part of an ongoing review of the product’s test case language this latest release of VersaTest also includes modifications to simplify the use of customer data in performance test cases, providing a more standardized approach to test case creation. Additionally included in the VersaTest Automator 1.8 release is an update to VersaTest Classic that enables greater parameterization of the TCP/IP protocol, so again simplifying the process of driver creation.

In addition to added user functionality, the usage of VersaTest is expanding into other areas of the enterprise. With the increase of data security breaches and stolen debit/credit card information, proactive methods of identification of unauthorized transactions are more important than ever. “Being able to test scenarios such as multiple transactions across diverse geographies, repeated distributed instances of invalid pin tries, and fall back transactions in the case of EMV are just some of the many types of fraud issues that we help to identify,” says Andrew Mould, Managing Partner at Ascert. “We are finding our testing technology expanding outside of the traditional QA into other areas in the organization because of VersaTest’s easy one-button test execution and automatic error identification and reporting.”

Used by QA testing groups in the payments industry for over 20 years to ensure the efficacy of transaction messaging, VersaTest’s role in “fraud departments” to test for the occurrences of illegal activity is a natural progression. Fraud testing requires the ability to accurately simulate a wide range of transactions to ensure potential fraud triggers are exercised and proven as effective. Leaving these triggers untested could render a fraud system worthless; resulting in financial losses, depreciation of the brand, and lack of consumer confidence.

Companies like Barclays Bank in the US are among the latest organizations to sign up to take advantage of the latest testing capabilities offered by VersaTest.
