Disney can certainly put the magic in the details of its merchandising. Frozen Facts
Frozen’s success has continued to snowball over the past two years and is not stopping.
1. The story is inspired by the The Snow Queen’s tale by Hans Christian Andersen. Since 1940 Mr Walt Disney dreamt of making a movie based on Christian Andersen’s fairytale.
2. Elsa was originally supposed to be a villain.
3. Since Frozen’s release, Elsa and Anna’s names have become increasingly popular for baby girls.
4. Filmmakers went to Norway to research landscapes for the film.
5. Director Jennifer Lee is the first woman to direct a Disney animated feature.
6. In Frozen Fever there’s a painting in the palace gallery in which Anna poses in front of which is a representation of Jean-Honoré Fragonard’s The Swing (which is wonderful and London Mums can go and check out for themselves as it is at the Wallace Collection Gallery in Central London).
7. My favourite fact of all has to be the reference in Olaf’s dance to Bert’s penguin dance in Mary Poppins.
8. Frozen is the highest-grossing animated film of all time and has won an incredible amount of awards (too many to list them here).
9. The movie is helping to bolster the soundtrack and vice-versa. Demi Lovato’s version of the big number Let It Go is a super hit and personally my favourite one as it is more rock than the more dramatic version in the film. Recently I heard another Frozen song sung in a Viking assembly at my son’s school with Viking lyrics. This is the proof in the pudding that this movie is widely popular.
I can attest that the Frozen Fever is also present in my male-dominated household: We own the soundtrack, all the dolls (all well kept by mummy who is a fashion doll collector OMG!) and a few different sized Olaf’s figures, a SoftPal Portable light friend Olaf / night light by Philips and the DVD (of course). Last but not least we have already watched the Disney on Ice show with the Frozen princesses once in 2015.
It’s beginning to look a lot like a Frozen Fever Christmas waiting for …. NOT SANTA but the imminent release of a Frozen 2 film.
