Baglioni Hotel London recently revamped their lobby space. At the same time, they redesigned their restaurant and launched Osteria 60 this month.

The new restaurant reinvents their restaurant space but keeps the essential Italian flavour for which Baglioni is famous. Osteria 60 serves both classic Italian dishes, such as warm spring minestrone, and more contemporary offerings, such as ‘Nduja crusted turbot with pickled courgette (‘Nduja is an Italian spicy, spreadable salami, for the uninitiated).

Behind the new restaurant’s menu, you’ll find Executive Chef Ivan Simeoli. Hailing from Italy and having plenty of experience with Italian cuisine, he certainly has the credentials to be in charge at a prestigious Italian restaurant.

However, he also wants to show that the best British seasonal ingredients can work well with Italian staples. His menu aims to do this, as well as taking a fresh and healthy approach. Simeoli is working with Restaurant Director Francesco Tatulli, as well as entrepreneurs Kanav Puri and Suraj Mehra.

The menu is packed full of flavours that are ideal for spring and summer.

The light and fresh ingredients are typical of classic Italian cooking, but with plenty of inventiveness to go with them. The dishes highlight British ingredients with Italian style, from seafood to vegetables and meat. Seafood features heavily, as it does on any respectable Mediterranean menu.

Start your meal with a buttermilk and smoked cucumber gazpacho with wild garlic, or special Osteria 60 calamari with tomato pappa and mozzarella. Pasta and risotto dishes include a classic Lasagne Campana della nonna and a Paccheri di Gragnano with lobster and chilli bisque.

Get a taste of Britain with the Welsh lamb chops, accompanied by a Sicilian aubergine caponata. Or tuck into the cod fillet, mussels and tomato guazetto. If you’re not too full, desserts range from a classic tiramisu to a more adventurous Negroni cheesecake.

Diners will enjoy stylish surroundings with their delicious food. The new look restaurant is in keeping with the hotel’s sleek Italian style. It was designed by the Arth Group and Milanese interior design firm Rebosio + Spagnulo, taking inspiration from traditional Milan trattorias of the 1950s.

Black and grey are offset by lighter sandy colours that are almost gold, with some gold and copper metallics to add some shine. Both dining chairs and comfy armchairs are available for a formal dinner or a more relaxed drink.

The restaurant also features a bar, with cushy bar stools, perfect for an after-work or pre-dinner aperitif.

The international wine list crafted by Head Sommelier Giovanni Rapagnani features around 140 wines, more than half originating from Italy.

The bar serves a light food menu, as well as classic Italian cocktails. There’s also a terrace overlooking Kensington Gardens able to accommodate up to 30. You can enjoy a uniquely Italian afternoon tea in the restaurant too.

Osteria 60 is open every day, from noon until 3pm for lunch, 3pm to 6pm for afternoon tea, and 6pm to 10.30pm for dinner. There is also breakfast service from 7am to 10am and an Italian brunch from 11am to 3pm on weekends.

Baglioni’s new restaurant is sure to become one of the premier Italian dining establishments in London. Whether you are staying at the hotel or not, it’s a stylish place to enjoy some delicious Italian food.
