I have never started one of my “On The Road” stories to you with bullets, but I was trying to figure out how to just put one “point” and this is all I could figure out. I never guessed that my week would end up having so many important “Points” that I want to tell you about, but somehow it did, and yes most of it was completely unplanned. I know, I know, you must thinking, “For once could she just get to the Point!” Okay here goes.

The first “point” I never expected in my lifetime. I attended a BNI meeting in Derry, it’s called the Tri County Networking Group and I met Dawn who has just opened her Practice, Triskelia Wellness in Derry. You know how when you just like someone right away, and feel good about being in their presence? That’s Dawn Buik, DC. DC stands for Doctor of Chiropractic Medicine. She told the group that she has been a Chiropractor and Acupuncturist for many years. She had practiced in Texas but wanted to move back to New Hampshire to be closer to her family. Now I think I’m one of those people who know a little something about a many things, but I have never gone to a Chiropractor. Honestly the idea of having my back “cracked” unnerved me a little. I unexpectedly found out, as with many things in life, my perception was completely wrong.

Dr. Buik invited me over to see her new office and meet her Massage Therapist Nancy too. I had no idea what was in store for me! Now through December Dr. Buik and Nancy are offering “FREE Bodywork Sampler Packages”. That includes a complimentary consultation, chiropractic evaluation and a gift card for a 30 minute massage. I would guess it has to be worth close to $200. “FREE” The one thing they are asking in return is that you bring in 10 canned goods or food items that they will donate to the local food pantry.

Look at this picture of the Manchester Food Pantry. How sad is that. Get and Give something back. Just that Dawn thought of this, speaks to the kind of person, Doctor, she is.

As we looked around and talked, Dr. Buik educated me on what her practice is about. She wants us to become more vibrant, healthy inside and out. Too many of us are looking for quick fixes, or another form of an aspirin, but we all know that’s short term and does more damage in the long run too. Suddenly Dr. Buik said, “Do you have anything right now, I want you to experience what all of this is like.” Excitement and a little panic hit me all at once. My schedule was open, so I took that as a meant to be sign.

First we talked; that alone felt great. Dr. Buik really wanted to get to know how I was feeling and my health history. It was even nice to just stop and think about ME for a while. Next the Adjustment! We went into this beautiful tranquil room. Dr. Buik used an “Activator” for this part. Nothing cracked, and if it had she explained it is really just air you are hearing. What a great feeling to be put into alignment and feel balanced! How did I miss this all these years?

Since I was feeling brave I asked her about the acupuncture too! Well here’s my picture. I wanted to try it so I could tell you about it. She placed needles in 4 “points” in my hands and feet. No, it didn’t hurt at all. I felt at peace. My dear friend Gertie that I have told you about before, suffered horrible Migraine headaches most of her life. Acupuncture can relieve these. Nothing else worked for her, but she always wanted to try this. I wish Triskelia Wellness was here a few years earlier for her. I could go and on. This is something for your health and lifetime “Wellness” call 603.824.6121 or go to their site www.triskeliawellness.com. I’m even sitting up straighter as I’m typing to you. So strange. I made my Message appointment with Nancy for this Monday. You might know her, she came to Triskelia Wellness from Belle Med Spa; I can’t wait to tell you about that next week.

I bet you never thought reading my story each week would save you money, and I mean ALOT of $$$. Did you know about a fairly new store on Broadway in Derry called The Used Apple Store? John and I were sneaking over to Sabatino’s North, in Derry while Mackensie was at the Sportszone. The Used Apple Store lights caught my eye across from where we had parked. John and I were both really curious, so we switched directions and went over to see what it was really all about. We walked in and met Bill Williams, here he is in the picture. If you ever ever ever have a problem with any apple product, you should run, don’t walk to The Used Apple Store and have them look at it before you go anywhere else. They have saved countless apple users hundreds of dollars and they guarantee their work and do it usually on the spot for you, of course depending on the Job.

Bill is an expert. He started figuring out and designing computer programs when he was 15 years old in High School. Of course he went to college for computer science. I’m convinced he and his team can fix any problem you have with your apple products. Go to his Wedsite www.USEDAPPLESTORE.COM Read the testimonials. I was shocked. One after another saying they had been told their old apple was useless, junk, worthless, not in Bill’s eyes. One women even spilt a bottle of nail polish remover on her keyboard. Many other places had told her the computer was ruined, or that it would cost thousands to repair it. She found The Used Apple Store on-line, brought it in and her computer was saved and for a fraction of the price.

Don’t forget about the small things too. While John and I were there, Joe Dussault came in just to get a new battery. Joe said “What a Great store to have around!” It saved him money too. The battery would have cost at least $80 somewhere else, The Used Apple Store charged him only $20. Here’s Joe’s picture. He’s spreading the word too. When you find a great business that can help us all, I think you should tell everyone.

They are in the process now of setting up new locations, and their own Music App for free. You’ll see it on their site. Soon you will be able to list your apple products on their site and buy and sell products right on line through the store. My “point” here, this is a site worth looking at and a store “worth” going into.

Little Trivia, when John and I first walked in, John said to me, “This is where Fred’s Barbara Shop use to be.” When Bill heard John say this, he jumped and said, “I told my mom that I remembered being here as a kid.” Suddenly it was clear to him that he had his hair cut at this location 30 years before, never imagining that someday his own store would be in that same spot. Fred the Barber lived next door to me and my family at Kendalwood Condo’s for years. My girls knew him as the “Candy man”. Sweet memories.

My next “point” revolves around the sharp point of a needle. I had heard about this great Tailor in Hudson for years and I finally got to meet her. Marie Luce, is the owner of Darn-It All Dry Cleaning & Tailoring, in Hudson. I had “popped” in a couple times before to meet Marie but she was out at other locations making deliveries. Each time I met Brittany her assistant who is lovely. She runs the front of the Shop, while Marie is creating in the back.

Brittany told me the very first time we met, that Marie has made many beautiful wedding dresses and altered more clothing then we can imagine. You’d be surprised to learn how many other businesses contract their sewing out to Darn-It All so that it can be done right.

Marie gave me a tour and for me this was a Home Economics teachers dream. You could call this shop a hybrid between a Boutique and a Dry Cleaning Service. She is even working on designing her own line of clothing because her close friends and associates have been after her to do this for years. I asked Marie when she started sewing and she said she was 5 years old! Her grandma taught her how to use a sewing machine, when she was very young. Marie is a creative and talented seamstress stop by and say Hi.

My final “point” this week revolves around the point of a paintbrush. Our town of Londonderry has many accomplished artist that are very humble about their artistic gifts. I’ve written to you before about Susan Hann, Micheal Tommey and Elaine Farmer. This week another Londonderry Artist, Marion Maney had her first Art Showing at Talbots Boutique in Bedford. Marion has been an artist for over 20 years, but finally a dear friend and mentor of hers told Marion it was time for her to share her talent with all of us. Many of Marion’s works are from inspirations she finds right here in Londonderry or other places she explores. Marion is also one of those humble heroes, who is always helping behind the scenes when people are in need, never wanting any recognition. My hat goes off to our own Marion Maney!

Happy Thanksgiving. I am Grateful for you, it means more than you could know that you take the time to read and share my On “The Road With Sherry”

As we are hurrying around in our grocery stores, pick up a few extra things for the Food Pantry. They say jars of peanut butter can save a life. They make a great quick food source. November is canned veggies month, but everything is so low.

The amazing thing about being part of Visit Londonderry is that I never know exactly where a week will lead. Even though I have lived here since the 60′s, grew up at Kendalwood Condos, taught at the High School, and raised my family here, each day I learn something special about our community. One thing is for sure, Londonderry is the best place to Live, Work and Play! Each week I will share with you some of the amazing businesses and things I have learned about Londonderry.
