Eat a Curry and Support Find Your Feet:
This is the second year that London-Unattached will be supporting Find Your Feet in their campaign to raise money for people in Nepal, India and Zimbabwe. This is a great charity whose aim is to help small communities fight hunger and poverty through projects that enable them to become sustainable.
This is where the fun bit comes in; we do love a curry in this country, and this is the perfect excuse to eat curry and feel virtuous simultaneously!
We are being encouraged to either to host an Indian-inspired dinner party, host or attend a Supper Club, or eat at one of the participating restaurants and make a donation with the bill. These gorgeous sweetcorn fritters from Anise certainly put us in the mood!
By simply signing up at www.curryforchange.org.uk aspiring cooks can receive all the essentials to invite friends, family or co-workers for a spicy night in. The kit includes exclusive recipes from campaign ambassadors (I can recommend the Rojan Josh Shepherd’s Pie – a brilliant fusion dish from Vivek Singh), top cooking tips and a packet of Natco spices. Supper Clubs hosts will also receive a crate of Kingfisher Beer, a bespoke hamper of Natco ingredients, and discounted listings on Tabl.com and GrubClub.com, to help them host a dinner with a difference. After guests have enjoyed their evening of fantastic food and great company they are invited to donate what they’d usually spend on a take-away. Last year we hosted a dinner, which even if I do say so myself, went very well! The most brilliant thing is that for every £1 that your guests contribute, Natco match the amount.
If you aren’t a cook, you can still dine out and contribute at the following restaurants:
Benares (June and July) – The renowned restaurant in Mayfair from twice Michelin Starred Chef Atul Kochhar.
Cafe Spice Namaste (Special dish, July and August) – A culinary institution, Cyrus Todiwala’s celebrated landmark restaurant.
Carom Spice Garden (August – September) – This summer experience Carom Soho’s Indian ‘Spice Garden’ on the Thames at Butlers Wharf Chop House.
Cinnamon Club (Special dish, June) – Among the best Indian restaurant in London near Westminster abbey.
Cinnamon Kitchen (Special dish, June) – Award winning Indian restaurant and cocktail near Liverpool St. station.
Cinnamon Soho (Special dish, June) – Third addition to Vivek Singh’s the Cinnamon family located in Soho.
The Regency Club (June) – North London’s award-winning authentic Indian Bar and Grill.
Indian Summer (July – September) – celebrating its 13th year in Brighton. Indian summer serves authentic dishes with recipes from India. Special Tandoori Sunday lunch event on Sunday 18th
Scarfes Bar – A unique London bar in the Rosewood Hotel in Holborn with Head Chef Palash Mitra.
The campaign raised over £60,000 last year – let’s see if we can exceed that this time around!
