I was at The Isis Education Centre in Hyde Park today, a post will be coming along, but I know people are always looking for interesting London venues for children’s parties and this is top-notch. Plus, it’s another resource London families are dependent on and any money we can give the Royal Parks Foundation helps us all.

Family Events Saturday 2nd of November
Royal Institute of Great Britain, Family Fun Day: Space 11am-4pm, free to Faraday Members. Join on Jim Al-Khalili and LauraThomas for a day of talks and activities exploring space. Most importantly to curious minds will be Al-Khalili’s talk on time travel and physics.
Cadogan Hall, Crash Bang Wallop: Join presentor Clair Bloor for a fantastic family concert, “The Mad Professor” by the City of London Sinfonia. 11am pre-concert activitites; hour-long concert at noon. £8 adults, £6 kids, family of 4 £24
Lauderdale House, Mrs H and the Singalong Band: 10am and again 11:30, tickets £4.50 adults and £3 kids- take the kids to enjoy the iconic Lauderdale House, Hampstead and a great show for kids.
Rich Mix, Africa Film Family Day: 11am-4pm, free all ages. Bring the kids to Rich Mix for free screenings of the short films “My Shoes” and “When They Slept”. Crafts, storytelling and African market.
Saturday Films:
Gate Picturehouse, Kids Club: Hotel Transylvania. Tickets £1 with £4 membership, popcorn and juice £2. My husband’s rainy day ace in the hole read the review, fabulous value for Saturday morning family time in a great location. Also, head down the road to The Gold on Portobello Road in the heart of Notting Hill and have a fabulous family-friendly meal in a pre-gentrified Notting Hill gem. Be sure to get one of the balcony tables in the atrium area … wonderfully food, cool venue and very family-friendly for slightly older kids.
Barbincan Family Film Club: Kirikou and the Men and Women. Tickets are £2, bring the kids and escape the cold while you chill and watch a movie. Great price. 11am, all ages.
Electric Cinema, Kid’s Club: This week’s feature, Justin and the Knights of Valour; 10:30am. Check out the newly refurbished Electric Cinema in Notting Hill with its plush, red velvet beds, sofas and armchairs. Looks like a great way for Dad to occupy the kids on a Saturday morning. Tickets £8 per person. All ages
Family Events Sunday 3rd November
Camden Arts Centre, Family Storytelling Sessions. Join artist Shona Handley as she tells two stories related to the current exhibit and then follows up with a craft making session. Free, all ages.
Southbank Centre, Royal Festival Hall, Benjamin Britten’s “Young Person’s Guide to the Orchestra” come celebrate the season of Britten and being the kids to one of the most child-friendly concerts written. Tickets for children start at £5, adults £10.
Rich Mix, Origins: Day of the Dead. This is one of the most fascinating celebrations and children just absolutely adore this. Similar to All Saints Day but actually a pagan event, Day of the Dead marks the day in the year when you honour the dead. What is unique is the attitude where there is a lot of mocking of death, completely with sweets and festivities to make it fun. So head down to Rich Mix for Day of the Dead t-shirt making (book free tickets), sugar skull decoration (book ahead), face painting and good-quality Mexican street food. Free, all ages
Pumphouse Gallery Battersea Park, Diwali Mobiles. Use recycled objects to make gorgeous, decorative Diwali mobiles.
