So, this is a story all about how my life got flipped, turned upside-down. I'd like to take a minute, just sit right there. I'll tell you how I got these prints from a camera called Belair.

I was SO excited when this camera was announced. The second it was available for pre-order I hit that submit button and handed over all my piggy points and cold hard digital, transaction-age cash. And, I was absolutely thrilled to find out I would be one of the lucky few to get this camera early! Lucky number 12 for the Belair X 6-12 Jetsetter! So, what better to do then rip open the box and start shooting as much as I can with this beauty? The first weekend I got the Belair I went through 8 rolls! Here is that journey…

One of the very first things I do when I get a new camera is take it to a familiar place and shoot a roll. This gives me an idea of how the camera works and what kind of film and light it really needs to shine. So, I grabbed my favorite model and headed down the street to Lake Merritt in Oakland, CA.

I decided for my first weekend with the camera to shoot all 6×12, because that was the exciting new format this camera brought. Here are a few more shots I took around Oakland that day:

Then, I was lucky enough that this weekend was also a Lomography SF Gallery Store photo walk! They rented out an SF Trolley and toured the sites.

First up, we hit the always stunning and picturesque Palace of Fine Arts in San Francisco, CA. The Belair just shone here. I was able to get some of the most beautiful shots I have ever taken. The 6×12 format and wide lens beautifully captured everything I saw.

Next, we headed across the bridge—the Golden Gate Bridge—to get a beautiful view of the city. And, what perfect timing, because any great shot of San Francisco must include the sea of fog rolling in.

On my way home I was able to grab a few shots of the winter decor around the city. And, I couldn’t miss up the opportunity to grab a few long exposure shots of the San Francisco Bay Area Rapid Transit trains.

Finally, to round off such an amazing weekend with the Belair Jetsetter, I finished off the last roll with a few shots of the newly renovated Oakland Fox Theater.
