What are you doing at the end of May?
No plans so far? Here’s an idea. I highly recommend taking a weekend getaway to Walnut Creek for the 33rd Annual Walnut Creek Chamber Art & Wine Festival. On Saturday & Sunday, May 31 & June 1, Heather Farm Park will sizzle with the sights, sounds, and flavors of the best Bay Area musicians, winemakers, artisans, salsa dancers, and festival foods, kicking off summer fun under Walnut Creek’s sunny skies.
It’s one of the top community festivals in the nation, and admission is FREE!
AWARD-WINNING WINES & SPECIALTY BEERS
Located throughout the Festival is a sensational mix of unique wines especially selected for wine lovers and familiar classics from Napa and Sonoma counties. Beer enthusiasts will also love the incredible lineup of specialty brews and the opportunity to sample some of America’s best handcrafted beers.
MUSIC & ENTERTAINMENT
Art & Wine 2014 will feature top-quality, non-stop music and entertainment for the entire family. Two fully-equipped sound stages will feature a wide range of music, from Stompy Jones’ vintage jump-style rhythm and blues, to sing-along cover bands such as Sun King (Beatles), Journey Revisited, Fleetwood Mask, Aja Vu (Steely Dan), Petty Theft (Tom Petty), and Zebop (Carlos Santana).
Also, the popular Grape Stomp Competition (first uncorked in 1981) will be back again and invites the audience to participate.
And as an art festival this is the granddaddy of them all, with works of art from more than 200 artisans, from fine paintings and provocative sculptures to one-of-a-kind pottery, unique furniture, kids toys, hand-made clothes, and much more.
FESTIVAL FOOD
There’s nothing like a festival for an excuse to pig out, and the Art & Wine Festival’s numerous food vendors are guaranteed to offer something for every palate.
FUN FOR EVERYONE in the CHILDREN’S AREA
The party is in full swing at the Children’s Area. Kids of all ages can enjoy classic and always popular inflatable jumpies, giant hamster balls, rock climbing, and more. So bring your kids and join the party!
