The Mossel Bay Travel Festival is an online and real world celebration of the experience of being in Mossel Bay – for locals and visitors alike.

Aims of the Festival

To create awareness of Mossel Bay (in its position in the Garden Route and Klein Karoo) as the holiday and business travel destination of choice;

To build an on-line community of friends and fans of Mossel Bay;

To explore and develop the concept of responsible travel in Mossel Bay;

To enjoy the experience of our built and natural environments, and of our people and their cultures;

To share Mossel Bay by showcasing the town and the Garden Route and Klein Karoo region both online and in the real world.

To celebrate travel.

The idea for the Mossel Bay Travel Festival was built on the model of the New York Travel Festival, which took place for the first time in April this year. We are in contact with the organiser of the New York Travel Festival - Roni Weiss - who has agreed to an affiliation between the two events. This will give Mossel Bay a direct line into the New York Travel Festival’s social media streams, with obvious benefits.

Mossel Bay Tourism is now working to bring Mr. Weiss to the Western Cape for the Mossel Bay Travel Festival 2013. Mr. Weiss is a blogger who will cover his tour of the province in his blog.

Focus

The Mossel Bay Travel Festival will run over three days, each of which will have a specific focus:

Presentations and lectures on travel, tourism marketing, and tourism attractions. Most of these will take place in break-away rooms; they will also be live-streamed, and they’ll be archived on YouTube.

Day 2: Exhibitions
