The Signing Connection: Baby Sign and Play (Round Rock) – 9:30 am. Baby Sign & Play Classes provide an interactive learning session for child and parent to begin the path to learn basic sign language communication skills. Research has shown how pre-verbal children, who learn ASL, have reduced frustration and stress by being able to convey their needs and feelings. Girls Rock Austin Rock-a-thon – 6-10 p.m., Music will be provided by: Ume, Danger*Cakes, The Mrs. You can take advantage of great drink specials at the event and food while it lasts, plus the whole family will enjoy games, a photo booth and a kids arts & crafts corner from 6 to 7:30pm. All proceeds will go toward the organization’s mission of empowering girls and women through music and to provide scholarships for 50% of campers, as well as helping expand programming.  Tickets are $10 for 18 and up. American Indian Heritage Day – 9 a.m. – 8:30 p.m., With House Bill 174, the Texas State Legislature named the last Friday in September American Indian Heritage Day, which recognizes the historic, cultural, and social contributions American Indian communities and leaders have made to the state. The day will feature a range of activities with dancing and drumming performances and interactive experiences for school groups during the morning and an evening program that celebrates the traditional and contemporary arts of Texas’s American Indian groups. Preschool Science: Fun with Pendulums (Round Rock)  – 10:30 – 11 a.m., The Round Rock Public Library presents a session of Preschool Science, a reading and play activity. We’ll be exploring pendulums, including everyone’s favorite pendulums: the swing and the wrecking ball. We’ll have a couple of books and songs, then break into stations so children can explore at their own pace alongside their caregivers. This event is for ages 18 months through six years old, and is designed to be shared with actively involved caregivers. Storytime Art: Pancakes- 10:45 am. Storytime Art, or StArt! is a great opportunity for your young child to experience art! Storytimes are geared to the 3 – 5 year old preschooler, but some projects could easily translate into a Mommy and Me project for those a little younger. And, of course, anyone older is welcome, as well! Storytimes always include at least one book and a related art project, but often include surprises like songs, poems, and coloring pages. National Hunting and Fishing Day (Round Rock)-  8 a.m. – 1 p.m. Join Kids Outdoor Zone in celebrating the original outdoor challenge–Natio

nal Hunting and Fishing Day. It will be a FREE family–event, with fun and educational hands–on activities that everyone will enjoy. This is a great way to introduce youth and newcomers to outdoor sports while teaching them about the important role that hunting and fishing play in Texas’ wildlife conservation programs. Afternoon in the Garden: Children in History, Going Back to School in the Mid-1800s - 1-4 p.m., It’s September and the beginning of a brand new school year! Learn old-time weather sayings that pioneers used to help forecast the weather and see which signs of changing weather you can find throughout the Botanical Garden. Tour the Swedish cabin, watch blacksmiths at work and visit the Esperanza Schoolhouse to learn some new pioneer skills and practice calligraphy. Fashion a feather quill pen and write a letter to a loved one on antiqued paper, complimented with natural inks derived from local plants and resources, and then seal it with a traditional wax seal stamp as the icing on the cake! included with admission. ZACH Theatre’s Winnie the Pooh – 2 p.m., Kids ages 3 and up will enjoy ZACH’s newest production that includes Pooh, Eeyore, Piglet, and Rabbit, too. Austin School Rock Best of Season – 3 p.m., The Best of Season Summer show will have a sampling of songs from each show we had in our 2015 Summer Season. Tickets: $7. All proceeds go to the Allstar Program. The North Door, 502 Brushy Street.

Austin Symphonic Band Fall Concert in the Park-  7-8:30 p.m. The Austin Symphonic Band presents its traditional Fall concert in Zilker Park. Bring a snack and spread your blanket under the pecan trees at the beautiful Hillside Theatre. Then watch the stars come out as the band showcases music as big as the great outdoors. FREE!
