Barton Springs University - 8:30 am to 7:00 pm. Barton Springs University is a day of outdoor learning at Barton Springs for high school and college students and the general public. Lectures, outdoor learning activities, and panel discussions on environmental science, natural and cultural history, environmental policy, and the arts will be happening simultaneously throughout the day. Presenters from the City of Austin will present information on topics like the flow of water from caves in south Austin through the Edwards Aquifer to Barton Springs and on Austin’s endangered salamander species. There will be breaks for swimming, and snorkeling tours will be offered. Austin Museum Day - The Austin Museum Partnership is proud to host the 18th annual Austin Museum Day, a free, city-wide rediscovery of Austin museums held on the penultimate Sunday of the month of September. It provides the public with free access to exhibits and activities representing more than 40 Austin cultural institutions! See a few events below and check the map for participating locations here.
The Contemporary Museum of Art at Laguna Gloria - Noon to 4 pm. Wander through Texas’s natural ecosystems and meet the animal inhabitants of its wildest landscapes at this art-and-nature-inspired event. Enjoy a lively performance of Jules Buck Jones’s Animal Facts Club Theater, get a handmade creature-themed coloring book, watch artist demonstrations, grab a snack from a food truck, and more!
Asian American Resource Center – 1-5pm. Take a journey through India though a special encore presentation of photographs by Rama Tiru including new works as well. Children are invited to participate in an exhibits-based Scavenger Hunt.
