Star-Spangled Independence Day Festival – 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., The star-spangled Independence Day festival will feature an array of family fun — historical reenactments, live music and a colorful display of independence flags.  Red-white-and-blue historical shows, horse rides, hayrides or horse-drawn wagon rides and food are planned on one or both days, along with pie-eating and watermelon seed-spitting contests.   The day will be Austin’s version of a midsummer festival, a popular activity in the late 1800s. Plan to come early and stay late for this old-fashioned weekend outing that replicates the family-friendly summer holidays in Old Texas. Cost: $8 for visitors ages 13 and over, and $6 for children ages 3-12. Children 2 and under are free. Pioneer Farms, 10621 Pioneer Farms Drive.

Pflugerville Pfirecracker Pfestival – 3pm – 11pm, The event features two stages with live music, a children’s area on both the north and south shores of the lake, dozens of food vendors, arts and crafts vendors, businesses on display — all before the pfantastic fireworks show! Stake out a spot on the north beach after 12 p.m., take a walk around the lake, or rent a kayak on site from Pflug Pfun. Check here for a list of what to bring. Special Movie at the Beach: A throwback to 1965, “Beach Blanket Bingo,” will be shown after the fireworks show, on the North shore. Sing along with Frankie Avalon and Annette Funicello! FREE! Bastrop Patriotic Festival – 4-10pm, This family friendly event to celebrate our Nation’s Independence includes vendors booths and children’s activities at Fisherman’s Park. Austin’s Symphonic Band will be in attendance and the program will conclude with fireworks at dusk. FREE! Fisherman’s Park, 1200 Willow Street, Bastrop.

Friday Night Storytime (Round Rock)- 7 p.m.,  Get ready to celebrate the 4th of July this evening with two delightful new books: Yankee Doodle Dandy by Callista Gingrich and Susan Arciero and The Night Before the Fourth of July by Natasha Wing and Amy Wummer. 39th Annual Austin Symphony H-E-B July 4th Concert & Fireworks

Activities: Tens of thousands of families will be decked out in red, white, and blue, heading down to Vic Mathias Shores for an amazing event, complete with a fireworks display over the city skyline backed by symphonic patriotic classics.

Cedar Park 4th of July Parade & Celebration
Where: Parade begins at Cedar Park Center traveling down Discovery Blvd. to the Cedar Park Recreation Center; Celebration is at Milburn Park (1901 Sun Chase Blvd.)
When: 10am (Parade begins) & 4pm – 10:30pm (Celebration) on July 4th
Fireworks: 9:15pm

Georgetown’s Sertoma 4th of July Celebration

Fireworks: approximately 9:30pm
Activities: The festivities will begin at 11:00 a.m. with over 60 Arts and Craft booths, 20 Food vendors. Kiddie rides, Bounce Houses and games along with a Petting Zoo are provided for the children. Kyle’s Independence Day Celebratiom & Fireworks Show
Where: Plum Creek Golf Course
When: 6-10pm on July 4th
Fireworks: around 9:30pm
Activities: Plum Creek Golf Course will host a July 4th golf tournament beginning after lunch. Starting at 6pm, the pre-show celebration at the PCGC Clubhouse is free to the public and includes live music and fantastic viewing. Hot dogs and cold drinks will be sold under the large tent, along with other snacks. No outside food or drink permitted on the golf course property. Hays CISD Performing Arts Center will entertain with music until the fireworks start. The free public program starts off at 7pm. The free public program starts off with The Blue Water Highway Band performing from 7p – 8:15p  followed by The Starlight Symphony Orchestra and Community Choir from 8:30p – 9:30p. Lakeway July 4th Celebration
Where: Parade starts on Lakeway Drive at the Live Oak Golf Course and concludes at the Activity Center. Activities will take place at the Lakeway Swim Center, 3103 Lakewood Blvd.
When: Parade starts at 8:30am, pageantry of the flags at 10:30am and fun begins at the Swim Center at noon. Pool admission is $3 until 6pm.
Fireworks: There will be no fireworks this year due to ongoing drought conditions.

Leander’s Liberty Fest
Where: There are two entrances to the festival. Entrance A is located on US 183A South (between San Gabriel Parkway and Hero Way) and Entrance B is located on Hero Way (between Mel Mathis and US 183A).

Fireworks: 9:10pm
Activities: There will be live music, featuring Granger Smith and Gary P. Nunn; vendors; children’s activities and fireworks. Leashed pets are allowed, as are canopies and large umbrellas for shade. No outside fireworks, including sparklers. No glass containers or grills. A $10 cooler fee benefits the Veterans Park Project.

New Braunfels Parade & 4th of July Fireworks
Where: Main Plaza, Downtown New Braunfels (Parade) & Landa Park (Golf Course Dr., New Braunfels)

Activities: The parade begins in the Saint Peter & Paul Church parking lot and ends at the plaza with a program, including the presentation of the Colors, a welcome, an invocation, special music, remarks by New Braunfels city officials, a benediction, retiring of the Colors and playing of the bells. We know that if you have little ones, sometimes getting out at night for the big fireworks show is not always doable. No worries. Here is a bonus roundup of local Austin parades where you can get out and soak up some patriotic style in the morning (before nap time):

Allandale Neighborhood’s 56th Annual 4th of July Parade – July 4, 9 a.m. The Allandale Neighborhood Association will host their annual Fourth of July Parade, followed by patriotic festivities and awards for participants. To walk or ride in the parade, meet at 8:30 a.m. on Bullard, just south of White Rock, facing Gullett Elementary. The parade begins at 9 a.m. and will travel north along Bullard, ending at the Gullett Elementary sports fields.

Barton Hills Neighborhood 28th Annual Independence Day Parade – July 4, 9am. Mark your calendars now to meet at the Barton Hills Market at 8:30 AM on July 4 with your decorated bike, stroller, wagon, or pet. The Parade down Barton Hills Drive to the Barton Hills Elementary playground starts at 9:00am, where games, cookies, and cold watermelon await. (1220 Barton Hills Dr)

Mueller 4th of July Parade & Pool Party – July 4, 9:30am – noon. The parade lineup will be at Paggi Square starting at 9:30am. The parade will leave the Square promptly at 10:00am and head down Robert Browning then taking Mattie down to conclude at Ella Wooten Park. The MNA will provide refreshments at Ella Wooten where the Pie Contest will be judged at 11:00am and the pool party will be in progress!

NWACA 4th of July Parade – July 4, 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. Parade starts at Waterline and Far West in Northwest Austin, then finishes with fun afterward at Doss Elementary.

Steiner Ranch July 4th Parade: July 4, from 9am- 11am. The Steiner Ranch family parade will kick off at 9am at the Towne Square Community Center. Children are invited to bring their decorated bikes, wagons, scooters, and strollers to participate in the parade. Other activities will include games and activities, water slide and bounce house, kiddie splash area, chalk and bubbles, and local entertainment. Enjoy face painting, balloon twisting, a DJ, food, prizes and a visit from the Lake Travis Fire Department!

Rosedale July 4th Parade – July 4, 9:30 a.m. Join your neighbors at Ramsey Park to celebrate the 4th of July! Gather at the bleachers in the park at 9:30 a.m. to decorate bikes, hats, strollers, etc. and then at 10:00 a.m., promenade around the park. Return to the bleachers for watermelon and a water balloon toss followed by carnival games and baked goods.

The Flying Theater Machine- 2 p.m., In “Dinos!”, the audience and performers will create a prehistoric adventure together. Using suggestions from the audience, a group of dinosaurs will show you what life was like in an era before time. Join us for “Dinos!” to experience a journey through the time of the dinosaurs. In these fully improvised stories, we’ll find many opportunities for the children in the audience (and sometimes their adults!) to participate and guide the story and even play on stage!
