Founders Day Festival (Dripping Springs)- Friday, April 24, Saturday, April 25 and Sunday, April 26. The three-day celebration kicks off with the Grand Parade and includes: free music and entertainment on two stages, the Mighty Thomas Carnival, food, beer, street dances, cook-off competitions, over 150 arts and crafts booths and business vendors. 17th Annual Dragon Boat Races- Saturday, April 25 and Sunday, April 26th, from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. Head to Festival Beach to watch 40-foot long boats race on Austin’s beautiful Lady Bird Lake. In addition to the races, this family-friendly, multi-cultural event offers Asian cultural performances of dances, martial arts, lion dance, taiko drum and a kid zone for children. Sunday is the First Annual Dumpling Festival and Competition. Stick Rice Dumplings wrapped in bamboo leaves are the traditional food items of the Dragon Boat Festival. Admission to the f is FREE! Art City Austin- Saturday, April 25 and Sunday, April 26. In 2015, Austin’s iconic art fair celebrates its 65th year! With an annual attendance of 20,000 people, this juried art fair is the biggest and best art marketplace in central Texas. At Art City Austin you will find: an outdoor art fair of nationally recognized artists featuring work ranging in medium from paint and photography to fiber and wood with more than 100 exhibiting artists, introducing the Austin Art Pavilion, featuring contemporary Austin art work presented by 5 Austin galleries, live musical performances that reflect the diversity and quality of the Austin music scene. This year Art City will feature the Black Fret Music Stage presented by KUTX Music 98.9, The Austin Music Experience, some of Austin’s favorite food trucks: Crepe Crazy, Coolhaus, Garbo’s Lobster Truck, Whole Foods, interactive projects and entertainment for kids of all ages. Family Dance Workshop: Swan Lake- 2:30- 3:45 p.m. Family Dance Workshops engage children and adults of all levels of dance experience with excerpts from the latest Ballet Austin production. Ballet Austin dancers lead groups in movement exercises to learn short pieces of choreography that build understanding of and appreciation for techniques essential to the production.
