Happening All Week

Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland – Monday through Friday, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (Exhibit is open until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.) The Ransom Center celebrates 150 years of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland with an exhibition for the curious and curiouser of all ages. Learn about Lewis Carroll and the real Alice who inspired his story. See one of the few surviving copies of the first edition of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. Discover the rich array of personal and literary references that Carroll incorporated throughout Alice. Explore the surprising transformations of Alice and her story as they have traveled through time and across continents. Follow the White Rabbit’s path through the exhibition, have a tea party, or watch a 1933 paper filmstrip that has been carefully treated by Ransom Center conservators. Special Storytime with Master Storyteller Bernadette Nason (Bee Cave)- 10:30 a.m., Recommended for ages 3 and up. Multi-award-winning storyteller/actress/writer, Bernadette Nason, hails from England, lives in Austin, and has performed all over the world. She is acclaimed both for her spirited re-telling of multicultural folktales and for her personal stories about the contrasting lifestyles of the places she’s lived. She brings stories to life with facial expressions, character voices, and amazing energy, drawing from her cultural experiences to highlight universal truths learned on her travels. Nason is a Texas Commission on the Arts’ touring artist, and winner of the Austin Critics’ Table Award for “Conspicuous Versatility.” She was Houston’s “Biggest Liar” in 2010. Music with Mar Round Rock- 9:15-10:15 am. Music with Mar. is a class where a caregiver and child (ages birth through preschool) participate together in musical activities. The class costs $10/family, payable directly to Angie, the class leader. A 5-class punch card is $35/family. Community Night at The Thinkery- 4-8 p.m.,  Enjoy special performances and activities presented by the City of Austin during Community Night on Wednesday, March 25 and April 1. Caribbean Dance Voyage- 6:30-7:30 p.m., The Austin Caribbean Cultural Exchange invites all children ages 6-14 to immerse themselves in Caribbean cultures through dance. In this five-part series, children will learn Folkloric Dance and Kompa from Haiti, Soca and Chutney from Trinidad and Tobago, Dancehall from Jamaica, and Salsa Choke (choque) from Colombia. Dancers will have the option to showcase the moves they learn at the first annual Caribbean American Heritage Month Festival, which will take place on June 27th from 12-4pm at the African-American Cultural and Heritage Facility. KGSR’s Blues on the Green- 8-10 pm. Austin’s largest FREE concert series is back with The Official Antone’s 40th Anniversary Celebration, hosted by Jimmie Vaughan and Special guest @ 8:55pm. The Antone’s All-Star Revue @ 8pm  Grab your family and friends, some blankets or lawn chairs and join us! RoboCode Kids- 3:30 pm. RoboCode Kids inspires innovation and cultivates creativity by exposing kindergarten through eighth grade students to robotics, computer programming, and 3D printing. That 80’s Concert- 8 p.m., The ACO will once again present its annual FREE Pops Concerts at the Sheffield Hillside Theater in Zilker Park.
