Halloween Hootenanny
Join the Thinkery for Austin’s best family-friendly Halloween party. Celebrate from 6-8:30 pm with spooky science activities, not so scary Storytime and a pumpkin patch that the little ones will love. Come dressed in your Halloween best for a costume parade! While this is a candy-free event refreshments, including food, beer, wine and kid-friendly drinks, will be available for purchase. This event is intended for children 6 months to 6 years old, but all ages are welcome.

Steve Scott: Let the Hauntings Begin

Making Sugar Skulls
Learn the traditional art of sugar skull making! During these hands-on workshops, both children and adults are invited to help create sugar skulls for the MACC’s annual event! Participants will learn more about the significance of Día de los Muertos and the beginning process of the sugar skull construction. Participants will receive a complimentary sugar skull kit to decorate at home! It is suggested that participants arrive 30 minutes early to secure a parking pass and fill out proper registration forms. Space is limited. Preregistration is encouraged. Boo at the Zoo
Wear a costume (no adult masks, please), ride the Haunted Train, explore the Haunted House, and see the animals by the glow of your flashlight. Bring a picnic to enjoy in the Picnic Grove. The zoo will be decorated and illuminated for the occasion. Tickets are $12.50, which includes a train pass and unlimited Haunted House visits.

Pioneer Farms Haunted Trails
Experience Halloween like nowhere else in Texas! This year’s theme will be “Disappearance,” featuring a haunted trail where guests will help search for missing loved ones who vanished without a trace from the Sprinkle Corner village, at the hands of legendary Creatures of the Night.
When: October 10-11, 17-18 and 24-25, 7-10 p.m.,

Ghoultide Gala
The ever-popular 3rd Annual Ghoultide Gala will be held at St. Martin’s Lutheran Church, at 15th & Rio Grande. New this year, the Scare-rrator Operetta Quartet will tell the story of ‘Twas All Hallows Eve. The amazing 55-member Orghoulstra and Deadbeats percussion will accompany the Ghoul Choir made up of St. Martin’s Choir, Capitol City Men’s Chorus, Women of Heartsong, and Kantorei of the Conspirare Youth Choirs. And, as always, dancing skeletons, corpses, cadavers and pirates will rock the house. The Ghoultide Gala Reception follows in the haunted gymnasium.

Viva la Vida Festival
The annual street festival is Austin’s largest and longest-running Day of the Dead event and features a Grand Parade/Procession, artists and entertainment, an exhibition inside the museum, and educational programs. Attendees will also enjoy traditional foods from local food trucks, hands-on art activities, artist demos, and traditional and contemporary Latino art. The 2014 event is co-sponsored by the City of Austin. Parade begins at noon and runs down 6th Street (between Comal and Chicon) and ends at 4th and Congress (about 45 – 60 minutes).

Halloween Movie Night at Torchy’s Tacos
Enjoy a night of kid-friendly vintage Halloween cartoons at the Torchy’s Trailer on South 1st, thanks to the Alamo Drafthouse Rolling Roadshow. Seats are limited, but feel free to bring your own chairs.

The Little Gym at Lakeline Halloween Bash

Monthly Movie Mania: Monsters, Inc.
Monsters generate their city’s power by scaring children, but they are terribly afraid themselves of being contaminated by children, so when one enters Monstropolis, top scarer Sulley finds his world disrupted.

Spooky Skedaddle 5K and Fun Run
The Spooky Skedaddle includes the city’s only Halloween themed 5K, a 1K Fun Run, and family friendly entertainment to create Austin’s premier halloween festival. Come join the fun, including FREE trick or treating! Proceeds from the event will benefit the Texas School for the Deaf Foundation and its mission to support the over 5000 deaf and hard of hearing children in Texas.

Brentwood Halloween Carnival
Come support Brentwood Elementary at the annual Haunted Halloween Carnival! Fun Activities: Haunted House, inflatables, Putt-Putt, and over a dozen carnival booths with prizes! Delicious food will be available for purchase from local vendors.

Dittmar Recreation Center‘s Halloween Spooktacular is back! The haunted house is bigger, the carnival has more games, and this year you can see the movie, Hocus Pocus. The carnival and haunted house will start at 6:30 p.m., and the movie will start at 7:45 p.m. Don’t miss the fun!

This year’s spook-tacular show is sure to have you shakin’ in your boots! Your little ghost or goblin will help haunt Long Center’s Dell Hall as the Austin Symphony presents its annual Halloween Children’s Concert, featuring mindchilling songs that are entertaining for all ages! The entire family is encouraged to join in on the fun and dress to impress in their favorite costumes while attending a concert full of “boo-tiful” music.

Ghosts, goblins, and ghouls—oh my! Simon Kidgits Club® members and their parents are invited to attend Lakeline Mall’s annual Spooktacular Carnival event on Saturday, October 25 from 12 pm to 3 pm at the JCPenney Court. The spooky event will feature all sorts of frightfully-fun activities, from Halloween crafts and games to a bounce house and a balloon twister. Kids can get their face painted or stop by and get their picture taken with a Halloween backdrop provided by Noerr*.

20th Annual Hayride & Halloween Festival
Hayrides begin outside the Georgetown Community Center at 5:30 p.m. Ticket sales will STOP at 8:00 p.m. Hayride tickets are $2 for adults and children 5 or older. Children under 5 are $1. The Trick-or-treat Village will be set up in the Community Center front lawn from 5:30-8:30 p.m. with local businesses and non-profit organizations passing out candy. Trick-or-treat bags will be provided, or bring your own! Enjoy a FREE movie in the park at 6:45 with ParaNorman, and don’t forget to wear your favorite costume and enter the Costume Contest! The Carnival will be held inside the Community Center from 5:30 – 8:30 p.m.
