Summer Spark
With packed schedules, powerful media everywhere, and performance pressure on schools, a fundamental component of a strong foundation is missing in the lives of many children today. The ability to tackle a problem with no set solution– to think creatively and flexibly, to struggle, fail, and try
again, to test, revise, and reiterate. At Summer Spark, we strive to fill this gap. We are all about physical experiments, purposeful tinkering, messy construction. Creativity Unplugged. At Summer Spark day camps, located at O. Henry Middle School in central Austin, your children come alive as they engage in weekly creative problem solving challenges. Each day begins with time for campers to connect on a personal level and enjoy time with each other before coming together as a community for a
group activity that sets a positive, collaborative tone and encourages new and old friendships. New concepts and skills related to the week’s challenge are then presented to the group, followed by plenty of time for campers to design, build, and test their ideas. This focused work time is broken up by high energy group games, as well as quieter time to relax and socialize. curiosity and engaging in an intriguing challenge.
