Harvest the Fall Fun at Sweet Berry Farm – Monday, October 28, Tuesday, October 29, Thursday, October 31 and Friday, November 1 from 8:30 a.m to 5:30 p.m. Stuff your own scarecrow, take a hayride, have the kids find their way through the candy corn maze, ride a barrel train, pick your own flowers, eat homemade ice cream and visit with the goats, horses and chickens. Baby Play Group (Round Rock) - Monday, October 28 from 3:30- 4:30pm. Join us every Monday, Wednesday and Friday afternoon for Baby Play Group! Day of the Dead Storytime- Tuesday, October 29 at 10:30 a.m. Come to BookPeople this morning for a Dia de los Muertos-Day of the Dead celebration! We will learn traditional songs, singing games and we will do a joyful esqueleto skeleton dance! We will play maracas and we will color calaveras-skulls that can be made into masks at home! And, of course, we will enjoy a wonderful Día de los Muertos story. Please note: If you would like (optional), if your child has experienced the loss of a grandparent or a family pet, they can bring a photo of their loved one, or maybe a flower, or a favorite food that was specially enjoyed by their loved one, and we will create a miniature altar to honor and celebrate their lives! Austin Film Festival Family Series: If You Build It – Tuesday, October 29 at 7:15 p.m. The film follows Emily Pilloton and Matt Miller as they teach the fundamentals of design, architecture, and construction to a class of high school juniors in rural North Carolina. Faced with rising unemployment rates, a struggling educational system, and simmering racial tension, the people of Bertie County, North Carolina, turn to Pilloton, Miller, and their students for help. We discover that what the class designs and builds for their hometown has a chance to transform their community for generations to come. Austin Film Festival’s Family Film Series is FREE and open to the public! Music with Mar- Wednesday, October 30 from 9:15- 10:00 a.m. Music with Mar is a class where a caregiver and child (ages birth through preschool) participate together in musical activities. These classes are focused on the four main areas of development – cognitive, social, motor and language. Classes are drop-in, so no advance sign-up needed. Preschool Basic Bricks: Free Demo Class- Wednesday, October 30 from 10- 11 a.m.  Children build exciting models using DUPLO® and LEGO® bricks. In this class, children will: Learn about letters, numbers, shapes and colors, Build exciting models using DUPLO® and LEGO® bricks,  Play, invent new sculptures, perform a finger play or sing a song about their creations. This Basic Bricks Class is appropriate for 3-5 year olds who may or may not have building experience. Fall Fun Fest (Round Rock)- Thursday, October 31, from 9 – 11:30 a.m. This year’s theme is superheroes. Kapow! Bam! Pow! Zap! Superhero to the rescue! Fly into the park for a fun filled morning with all your favorite superheroes. There will be carnival games for toddlers and preschoolers, hayrides, cookies and punch and fun entertainment for all to enjoy. Be sure to wear your favorite costume! Dressed up in their ghoulish garb, the kids will make their own reusable bag to fill up with goodies and giveaways as they parade around the store.  Children 0-18 months are still encouraged to come at 3:30pm, and over 18 months at 4:30pm. Trick or Treat for Books- Thursday, October 31 at 6:00 p.m. Gather at BookPeople this Halloween for a storytime filled with our favorite type of treats – new books!  Storytime will be in our amphitheater starting at 6PM, featuring stories full of monsters, ghosts, and witches (but none of them will be too scary).  Then, at 6:30PM, join the costume parade around the store, which will start on our second floor and end at the front of the store where you’ll get your treat – a free book to bring home!
