Austin

MUMC Pumpkin Patch, Now through October 31, Manchaca United Methodist Church. Visit the patch, purchase a pumpkin to carve, take photos and join in celebrating the cool breezes of fall and the changing colors of the season. The MUMC Fall Festival will take place on Saturday, October 19, from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m.  The MUMC Fall Festival is a great time to celebrate the season! Bring your family, friends and neighbors for a day of fun! The Acro Cats Halloween Spooktacular- October  24 – 27 (Thurs/Fri) 7pm; (Sat/Sun) 1pm, 4pm & 7pm. Circus cats ride skateboards, jump through hoops, and play in a rock band. Cost: $19. The Marchesa Hall & Theatre, 6406 N I-35.

Boo at the Zoo, October 25, & 26, 6:30 – 9 p.m., Austin Zoo & Animal Sanctuary. Boo at the Zoo is the Austin Zoo’s annual fall fundraiser benefiting their rescued animals. Take a haunted train ride, walk through a haunted house, and enjoy spooky lights all throughout the zoo. Call 512-288-1490 to purchase tickets with a MasterCard, Visa, or Discover card. Bethany Lutheran Pumpkin Patch, Now through October 31, 10 a.m. – 7 p.m., Bethany Lutheran Church. Choose from an inventory of over 2000 various sizes of pumpkins for purchase. On the weekends kids can enjoy storybook readers, children activities, cookbook, and great picture opportunities. Pioneer Farms Haunted Trails, October 25 & 26, 7-10 p.m., Pioneer Farms. Experience Halloween like nowhere else in Texas! A must-see history show for all ages. This is an Austin tradition with new displays and thrills! Admission is $12 a person. Reservations are not necessary. Hayrides and fortune telling booths available for extra fee (Update: hayrides are not available the first weekend due to soggy ground from all the rain). Spooky Snacks & Creepy Crafts, Thursday, October 24, 6 – 7:30 p.m., YMCA North Austin Branch. Get in the Halloween spirit and join us in making healthy, Halloween-themed snacks and crafts that the whole family can enjoy. Halloween Carnival, Thursday, October 24, 2013, 6 – 8 p.m., A. B. Cantu / Pan American Recreation Center. Every year the Pan Am Recreation Center offers families an alternative to door-to-door trick or treating. Ghostbusters, Thursday, October 24, 7:30 p.m., Republic Square Park. The Alamo Drafthouse and Austin Parks Foundation present Ghostbusters (1989 | PG). The discovery of a massive river of ectoplasm and a resurgence of spectral activity allows the staff of Ghostbusters to revive the business. Details about the movie at the Alamo Drafthouse website. Dogs, picnics, and lawn chairs are welcome. Trick or Treat Path & Carnival, Friday, October 25, 6:30 – 8:30 p.m., Northwest Recreation Center. Don’t be late….for this very important date! Come join us down the rabbit hole for our annual Halloween trick-or- Treat Trail and Carnival. Halloween Bash, October 25, 8 p.m., The Little Gym of Austin at Lakeline. Ghostly games, thrilling treats, and a mysterious maze! Costumes are encouraged! 7th Annual Murder, Mayhem & Misadventure Walking Tour, Saturday, October 26, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m., Oakwood Cemetery. Tours begin approximately every 20 minutes, and each tour lasts about 1 hour. Take a walk with Save Austin’s Cemeteries’ tour guides as they highlight the lives and deaths of Austin’s early citizens. Hearing actors’ chilling tales of 19th and 20th century murders and other untimely deaths will shed new light on Austin’s history and put you in a ghoulish, Halloween mood! Comfortable closed-toe shoes are recommended for uneven terrain. Tours are FREE; donations are welcome with proceeds benefiting Save Austin’s Cemeteries preservation projects.(1601 Navasota Street – just south of UT baseball field).

Brentwood Halloween Carnival, Saturday, October 26, 3-7 p.m., Brentwood Elementary School. Come support Brentwood Elementary at the annual Haunted Halloween Carnival! Fun Activities: Haunted House, Inflatables, Putt-Putt, and over a dozen carnival booths with prizes! Delicious Food: Taco Deli, Eastside Pies, Bake Sale, Popcorn, and Cotton Candy! FREE to attend. 26th Annual Monster Concert, Saturday, October 26, 3-8 p.m., Austin High. FREE concerts in the Performing Arts Center will feature guest orchestras from local schools. See the full performance schedule. In addition, there will be an outdoor Carnival with food, games, live music, a costume contest at 5:45 p.m., and a Haunted House. At the event, Carnival tickets will be $1 and Haunted House admission will be $7. Pumpkin Sculpting Competition, Sunday, October 27, noon – 4 p.m., Umlauf Sculpture Garden and Museum. BYOPumpkin or purchase one from the museum. There will be sculpting and carving tutorials by Texas Society of Sculptors’ Marla Riperda, plus a silly round of judging at 3:45 p.m. This year, your admission fee is waived when you bring 3 non-perishable food items to be donated to the Capital Area Food Bank. Austin Symphony Halloween Children’s Concert, Sunday, October 27 at 2 p.m., Long Center. This year’s spook-tacular show is sure to have you shakin’ in your boots! Your little ghost or goblin will help haunt Long Center’s Dell Hall as the Austin Symphony presents its annual Halloween Children’s Concert, featuring mindchilling songs that are entertaining for all ages! The entire family is encouraged to join in on the fun and dress to impress in their favorite costumes while attending a concert full of “boo-tiful” music. Tickets are $8 for children; $12 for adults. Fall Harvest Festival, Sunday October 27, 3 – 5 p.m., YMCA North Austin Branch. Gather up your little ghosts and goblins for some Halloween fun at the YMCA! Goblins in the Garden, Sunday, October 27, 4 – 7 p.m., Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center. Dress up and come to the Wildflower Center and trick-or-treat at candy stations throughout the garden. Kids can also get their faces painted, listen to stories at the Little House, take part in a scavenger hunt, do arts and crafts, and march in a costume parade. Admission is $9 for adults, $7 for seniors and students, $3 for children 5 through 12, and free for Center members and children under 5.

Trunk or Treat/Fall Festival, Sunday, October 27, 4 – 6 p.m., Bethany Lutheran Church. Join Bethany Lutheran for the annual Trunk or Treat and Fall Festival. Children can collect candy at decorated cars, decorate cupcakes, play carnival games, participate in a costume parade, hear spooky stories, enjoy yummy treats and much more. Spooktacular Halloween, Wednesday, October 30, 6 – 8 p.m., Givens Recreation Center. Children of all ages and their parents can scare up some fun at the carnival where they will find games, inflatables, and much, much more. 2nd Annual Monster Festival, Thursday, October 31, 5 – 7:30 p.m., Ruiz Branch of Austin Public Library.  512-974-7500. Come dressed as your favorite superhero or monster for the costume contest. Get your face painted like a monster at the face painting station. Get creative at craftBOOths. Create your own scary story: write, draw, color, and more. Make your own paper monster. Pumpkin Parade, Thursday, October 31, 10:30 a.m., Lake Travis Community Library. Get dressed up in your best Halloween costume and come to the library for the annual Pumpkin Parade. There will be a brief story time, then parade around the library. FREE. (1938 Lohman’s Crossing)

Trunk or Treat, Thursday, October 31, 5:30 – 7:30 p.m., Austin Baptist Church. Bounce houses and a small petting zoo. FREE of charge. (7016 Ribelin Ranch Drive)

Trunk or Treat, Thursday, October 31, 6 – 9 p.m., Wells Branch Community Center Parking Lot. Bring your trick-or-treat route by the Community Center parking lot off Klattenhoff Drive for Trunk-or-Treat. Trick or Treat for Books, Thursday, October 31, 6 p.m., BookPeople. Storytime will kick off in the BookKids amphitheater at 6 p.m., featuring stories full of monsters, ghosts, and witches (but none of them will be too scary). Then, at 6:30 p.m., join the costume parade around the store, which will start on our second floor and end at the front of the store where you’ll get your treat – a FREE book to bring home! Dia de los Muertos, Saturday, November 2, 10 a.m., Emma S. Barrientos Mexican American Cultural Center. Participate in an annual Day of the Dead (Día de los Muertos) celebration by displaying your custom or classic car or bike. This colorful community event grows every year, and it continues to provide an opportunity to celebrate Latino culture. Día de los Muertos is an indigenous Mexican holiday that celebrates the life cycle through the building of temporary altars to commemorate loved ones who have passed, and as such, altars are also suggested and may be placed inside or outside your vehicle. River Oaks Fall Festival, Saturday, November 16, 11 a.m. – 2 p.m., River Oaks Elementary School. Enjoy  laser tag, ponies, carnival games where everyone is a winner. Entertainment such as the mariachi band Trio Los Castros and Connelly cheer-leading squad. Food will be available for purchase. Admission is FREE, but some activities have a fee. Bastrop

Fall Festival & Corn Maze, Saturdays & Sundays, September 28 – November 10, Barton Hill Farms. Enjoy a corn maze, train rides, a sunken ship, jumping pillow, and more. Free pumpkin painting with purchase of pumpkin. General admission is $7 per person for ages 3-10 and $10 for ages 11 and up. Ages 2 and under are FREE. Admission includes entry to the corn maze and pumpkin patch. Some of the other activities cost extra. Guests can purchase an all access pass for $5 for unlimited access to the jumping pillow. HalloweenFest, Thursday, October 31, 5 – 9 p.m., Downtown Bastrop. Take the family down to historic main street in downtown Bastrop for the Annual Halloween Festival, recognized as one of the top Halloween festivals in the country. Kids and parents alike will enjoy costume contests, pumpkin carving contests, trick-or-treating, games and more. FREE.

Bee Cave

Hill Country Galleria Trick or Treating-  Saturday, October 26 from 2-9 p.m. Join us for a special Halloween event with free face painting, free bounce houses, bungee jump, and of course trick or treating!  The fun starts at 2pm in the outdoor Amphitheater with a dance performance by PAIYH Dance Studios, then trick or treating follows from 4p-6pm.  Make the rounds at over 100 stores and restaurants at the Hill Country Galleria to trick or treat!  Be sure to wear your costume and stop by the Hill Country Galleria Guest Services booth to get a free trick or treat bag!  We will end the day with a live music performance by The Loose Wheels! Buda

11th Annual Boo-da Halloween, October 26, from 5 – 9 p.m., Downtown Buda. Downtown Buda serves as a safe and fun opportunity for children to trick-or-treat for Halloween and includes Halloween stories, crafts, games and more Halloween fun at the Buda Public Library. FREE.

Cedar Park

Fall Festival, Saturday, October 26, 12 – 4 p.m., Lakeline Mall JC Penney court. Join Lakeline Mall for a costume contest, Halloween craft activities, and prize giveaways! Be sure to check out the strolling magician, balloon twister, and face painter while you’re there. And, stop by the pumpkin patch and pick out your very own pumpkin. Admission is FREE, but activities may have a fee. (11200 Lakeline Mall Dr, Cedar Park)

Free Fall Fest, Saturday, October 26, 4 – 7 p.m. FREE Family festival complete with food, games, petting zoo, pony rides, hay ride, bounce houses,trunk or treat, a rock wall and MORE!(1775 E Whitestone Blvd, Cedar Park)

Fall Festival, Saturday, November 9 from 12 – 9 p.m., YMCA Camp Twin Lakes (rescheduled due to inclement weather). Kids who are 3 years and younger enter for free. For everyone else, admission is $6 per person in advance (before Oct. 19 at the Twin Lakes Family YMCA Member Services Desk in Cedar Park) or $8 per person at the gate. Activities included with admission are: inflatables, hay rides, petting zoo, super slide, Pedestal Joust, Superhero Obstacle, climbing tower, midway carnival games, Kiddie Carnival (8 years and younger), Pumpkin Patch (pumpkins available for purchase), and a vendor fair. (204 E Little Elm Trail, Cedar Park)

Elgin

October Fall Fun at Elgin Christmas Tree Farm, daily from October 5, excluding Pumpkin Festival Weekends. Enjoy hay rides, animals, mazes, and more. Monday – Thursday 10 a.m. – 2 p.m., Fridays & Saturdays 10 a.m. – 5:30 p.m., Sundays noon – 5:30 p.m. Admission is $6 per person. Join the Farm Family to receive one FREE child admission coupon. 120 Nature’s Way, Elgin, off Roy Davis Rd.

Pumpkin Hunt- Evergreen Farms, weekends in October. Admission is FREE but some activities cost $2.50 to $5. Free activities include wagon rides around the farm and a petting zoo. Activities that cost $2.50 per ticket include a train ride, a maze, and face painting. (Directions)

Georgetown

19th annual Halloween Hayride and Carnival-  Thursday, October 24, from 5:30 – 8:30 p.m., Georgetown Community Center. Hayrides begin outside the Georgetown Community Center at 5:30 p.m. Ticket sales will STOP at 8:00 p.m. Tickets will be $2 for children 5 or older and adults. Children under 5 are $1. Please note: This will not be a scary Haunted Hay ride as in year’s past. It is a friendly hay ride through the park with Halloween themed decorations, aimed towards younger children.The Carnival will be held inside the Community Center from 5:30-8:30 p.m. Admission is FREE, but each booth or activity charges a fee to participate. The Trick-or-treat Village will be set up in the Community Center front lawn from 5:30-8:30 p.m. Back again this year is a FREE Movie in the Park! Leander

Leander Fire Department Fall Fun Festival- Saturday, October 26, 5:30 – 10 p.m., Biff Johnson Fire Administration Building.  Featuring the Firehouse of Horror. Carnival Games tickets are 50¢ each. Most games require only one ticket per play. Tours of the Two-Story Haunted FireHouse of Horror are $10 per person, per tour. The purpose of the event is to provide Leander and the surrounding communites a safe, fun, and low-cost event, and to raise money for Leander Fire Department to replace three old worn out Automated External Defibilators (AED). There is FREE admission and free parking. (101 E. Sonny Drive, Leander)

Halls of Horror Haunted House, October 25-26 from 7 p.m. – 11 p.m., Green Red Barn at Heritage Park. Enter if you dare the Halls of Horror Haunted House. Halloween at the Y, Saturday, October 26, 4 – 10 p.m., Old Settlers Association. One of the largest Halloween events throughout Central Texas, this festival will include carnival games, inflatables, rides, climbing walls, Halloween candy, music, prizes, concessions, a costume contest, and more. Admission is $5, and parking is free at the Dell Diamond. (3300 E Palm Valley Blvd, across from the Dell Diamond)

Halloween House Open House, Sunday, October 27, 2013 at 6:30 p.m. and Wednesday, October 30, 2013 at 6:30 p.m. The house boasts hundreds of original outdoor displays based on Tim Burton’s The Nightmare before Christmas and The Corpse Bride, as well as Disney’s Haunted Mansion. These Open House events are FREE and open to the public. The owners will be taking people through in small groups to get a closer look inside. Please keep in mind that the Halloween House is a private residence, not a business. They ask that you do not park in front of the yard displays so that others can enjoy the full view, and please be mindful of the neighbors and respect their properties and privacy. Fall Fun Fest, Thursday, October 31, from 9 – 11:30 a.m., Lakeview Pavilion festival area of Old Settlers Park. This year’s theme is superheroes. Kapow! Bam! Pow! Zap! Superhero to the rescue! Fly into the park for a fun filled morning with all your favorite superheroes. There will be carnival games for toddlers and preschoolers, hayrides, cookies and punch and fun entertainment for all to enjoy. Be sure to wear your favorite costume!
