Boo at the Zoo, October 25, & 26, 6:30 – 9 p.m., Austin Zoo & Animal Sanctuary. Boo at the Zoo is the Austin Zoo’s annual fall fundraiser benefiting their rescued animals. Pioneer Farms Haunted Trails, October 25 & 26, 7-10 p.m., Pioneer Farms. Experience Halloween like nowhere else in Texas! A must-see history show for all ages. This is an Austin tradition with new displays and thrills! Admission is $12 a person. Reservations are not necessary. 7th Annual Murder, Mayhem & Misadventure Walking Tour, Saturday, October 26, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m., Oakwood Cemetery. Tours begin approximately every 20 minutes, and each tour lasts about 1 hour. Take a walk with Save Austin’s Cemeteries’ tour guides as they highlight the lives and deaths of Austin’s early citizens. Hearing actors’ chilling tales of 19th and 20th century murders and other untimely deaths will shed new light on Austin’s history and put you in a ghoulish, Halloween mood! Comfortable closed-toe shoes are recommended for uneven terrain. Austin Symphony Halloween Children’s Concert, Sunday, October 27 at 2 p.m., Long Center. This year’s spook-tacular show is sure to have you shakin’ in your boots! Dia de los Muertos, Saturday, November 2, 10 a.m., Emma S. Barrientos Mexican American Cultural Center. Participate in an annual Day of the Dead (Día de los Muertos) celebration by displaying your custom or classic car or bike. This colorful community event grows every year, and it continues to provide an opportunity to celebrate Latino culture. Día de los Muertos is an indigenous Mexican holiday that celebrates the life cycle through the building of temporary altars to commemorate loved ones who have passed, and as such, altars are also suggested and may be placed inside or outside your vehicle. Hill Country Galleria Trick or Treating- Saturday, October 26 from 2-9 p.m. Join us for a special Halloween event with free face painting, free bounce houses, bungee jump, and of course trick or treating! The fun starts at 2pm in the outdoor Amphitheater with a dance performance by PAIYH Dance Studios, then trick or treating follows from 4p-6pm. 19th annual Halloween Hayride and Carnival- Thursday, October 24, from 5:30 – 8:30 p.m., Georgetown Community Center. Hayrides begin outside the Georgetown Community Center at 5:30 p.m. Ticket sales will STOP at 8:00 p.m. Tickets will be $2 for children 5 or older and adults. Children under 5 are $1. Please note: This will not be a scary Haunted Hay ride as in year’s past. It is a friendly hay ride through the park with Halloween themed decorations, aimed towards younger children.The Carnival will be held inside the Community Center from 5:30-8:30 p.m. Admission is FREE, but each booth or activity charges a fee to participate. Leander Fire Department Fall Fun Festival- Saturday, October 26, 5:30 – 10 p.m., Biff Johnson Fire Administration Building. Featuring the Firehouse of Horror. Carnival Games tickets are 50¢ each. Most games require only one ticket per play. Tours of the Two-Story Haunted FireHouse of Horror are $10 per person, per tour. The purpose of the event is to provide Leander and the surrounding communites a safe, fun, and low-cost event, and to raise money for Leander Fire Department to replace three old worn out Automated External Defibilators (AED). Families with children 3 years and older will be invited to come at 4:00pm. Halloween House Open House, Sunday, October 27, 2013 at 6:30 p.m. and Wednesday, October 30, 2013 at 6:30 p.m. The house boasts hundreds of original outdoor displays based on Tim Burton’s The Nightmare before Christmas and The Corpse Bride, as well as Disney’s Haunted Mansion. These Open House events are FREE and open to the public. The owners will be taking people through in small groups to get a closer look inside. Please keep in mind that the Halloween House is a private residence, not a business. They ask that you do not park in front of the yard displays so that others can enjoy the full view, and please be mindful of the neighbors and respect their properties and privacy. Fall Fun Fest, Thursday, October 31, from 9 – 11:30 a.m., Lakeview Pavilion festival area of Old Settlers Park. This year’s theme is superheroes. Kapow! Bam! Pow! Zap! Superhero to the rescue! Fly into the park for a fun filled morning with all your favorite superheroes. There will be carnival games for toddlers and preschoolers, hayrides, cookies and punch and fun entertainment for all to enjoy. Be sure to wear your favorite costume!
