Music Under the Star – Friday, July 12, from 6 – 9 p.m. Every Friday in July, bring your camp chairs and blankets (but no coolers, please) and dance the evening away to the hottest sounds in Austin. This FREE concert series features a fantastic line-up of Texas musicians who will play from 6 to 9 p.m. on the Bullock Museum’s Lone Star Plaza. This week, you can hear Elana James with special guest Katie Holmes Project.  In between sets, cool off with a trip through the exhibits, which will be FREE and open to the public during the concerts. Kids can decorate wooden star cutouts and turn them into wearable art: pins, necklaces, bolo ties and more! Bullock Texas State History Museum, 1800 N. Flying Theater Machine presents: Fairly Silly Fairy Tales! Saturday, July 13th at 11:00am.  Join us for kid-oriented improv, where the audience participates with suggestions, sound effects, and acting! Fairly Silly Fairy Tales takes some of your favorite fairy tales, and finds new ways to mix them up – with the help of the audience. You never know what will happen until the end! Every second Saturday of the month, AMOA-Arthouse offers hands-on art making workshops at Laguna Gloria, inspired by the exhibitions on view. Join us between 11am–3pm to see family-friendly performances, meet local artists, and make art to take home. Recommended for ages 2–11. The Funnybun Family Picnic- Saturday, July 13 at 2pm (pay what you like) and 4pm, Sunday, July 14 at 4pm with a special pay what you like party that will follow. It’s a fine summer Saturday and the Funnybuns are preparing to go off on their annual family picnic. But, being a clown family, nothing goes as planned. Papa Willie tries hard to keep the kids laughing, while Mama Lindy keeps putting on band-aids. Brother Happy likes to rope, roughhouse and goof off. But sister Buffy wants none of it. She’s embarrassed by her clown family, and wants to be different. Willie has a sad but true secret, one that threatens to pull the family apart. Can Buffy find a way to follow her dreams? Charlotte’s Web- Saturday, July 13 at 11am and 1pm and Sunday, July 14 at 12:30 and 2:30pm. The beloved childhood classic, based on the book by E.B. White and  re-imagined by acclaimed director Jenny Larson, is a play that will enchant audiences with a story of loyalty and friendship. Wilbur, an affectionate and spirited pig, is valiantly saved by a young girl named Fern from a deadly fate. But after being sent away to live on the Zuckerman farm, Wilbur finds it difficult to adjust without Fern. Wilbur soon befriends some local farm animals, including a kindhearted and clever spider named Charlotte. Unbeknownst to Wilbur, he is being well fed to meet his tragic fate. In an effort to save Wilbur’s life, Charlotte weaves a plan with the help of an unlikely character. This new adaptation captures a warmhearted tale with the help of live music arranged by Emily Marks, captivating puppetry designed by Caroline Reck, video projections by Chris Hatcher, and a stellar cast. Austin Symphony Hartman Foundation “Concerts in the Park” - Sunday, July 14 at 7:30 p.m. In its eleventh summer season, these FREE concerts take place in the Hartman Concert Park in front of the Long Center City Terrace. Each Sunday, a different ensemble of the Austin Symphony will be featured. This Sunday, it will be Brass. Concertgoers are encouraged to bring a picnic dinner and blanket and make it a group outing. Cirque du Steve -Saturday at 10 a.m. What’s the Story Steve? transforms into an improvised circus!
