I have a love for vintage pieces, especially the ones that have special memories or were given as gifts. I think that makes them even more special. My Vintage Inspired Christmas Dining Room Decor has a few of those special pieces… from vintage cards to a fairly recent gift of a beautiful old typewriter.

Vintage Inspired Christmas Dining Room Decor
I think my dining room is a work in progress… I love my dining table and chairs and the gallery wall. Everything else seems to be an indecisive struggle. Sometimes getting your home to be what you envision it to be is harder than you think and a lot of money. So, I do what I can with what I have.
Oh, I wanted to mention that I don’t have a tablescape today — I shared this fabulous Simple Rustic Christmas Tablescape last week, so be sure to take a look. It really did turn out beautifully.
Today I’ll show other decorative accents in our formal dining room… we really only eat in here when we have company and/or for special occasions. Other than that, we tend to eat most of our meals in our breakfast room.
While decorating the dining room this year, I did find myself using a lot more vintage (and vintage inspired) pieces. For example, the vintage Christmas cards that make the wreath hanging in my gallery wall.
Some of the cards were from my grandma’s card box and a few of the others I bought on Etsy. I’m a sucker for vintage cards.
Don’t even get me started about the Underwood vintage typewriter… pitter patter. While visiting my parents earlier this fall in New Jersey, my mom mentioned that a gal from their church was selling a couple of vintage typewriters. I quickly asked her to text an inquiry and let her know that I was interested. Ahem… we were too late! Figures. One of the other pastors got it (womp womp womp). I text the pastor that bought it, hoping he might just let me buy it. Haha.
We happened to be having a BBQ with them later that weekend, and would you believe they brought the typewriter and gave it to me?!?!?! I was speechless and giddy all at the same time.
The wooden numbered wall shelf was perfect to add Christmas accents, some vintage and some from our travels. I really loved how this came together and each item makes me smile — especially this furry friend.

A tree placed in a large galvanized bucket from IKEA and burlap used as a skirt, setting next to a vintage sled is a classic look. I scored that vintage sled at a yard sale and got it for a GOOD price.
Aren’t the gold bells hanging on the sled great too?
I think my favorite piece in this room is the centerpiece on the table, as well as the runner, which I happened to score at Pottery Barn. The runner has a farmhouse red ticking stripe on it and the galvanized tray filled with poinsettias of different sizes was something unique that I fell in love with.
