I’m obsessed with my new farmhouse pillow cover and I just had to share…

Okay, okay, maybe I have a pillow obsession in general!  Who am I kidding? Most women do. HA! I saw this statement earlier this week on Facebook and busted up.  It’s true! Right?

When we moved into our home in 2008 (the year we got married), I had NOT found my sense of style whatsoever.  You could probably say that it was ‘all kinds of wrong…’

…gold-wheat color paint everywhere

…an orange accent wall

…brown (corduroy) couch

Others might love wheat colored paint and orange accent walls — but I found, over time, that it wasn’t for me and it made our home look so DARK!  If you’ve been around here, you might have seen some posts about changes taking place.  Our living room is undergoing a bit of transformation right now… and I’ve shared bits and pieces here and on social media.  I guess you could call them teasers (giggle).

We did sell our brown sofa, painted the walls a light gray, updated our mantel and got new furniture. Our sofa and chair both have slipcovers now — I’ll save that for another post because I have a ton of pros and cons.

One thing I’ve had a lot of (and still buy a lot of) is throw pillows.  I have oversized trash bags full of them in our basement to prove it too! Somehow, I’m able to justify a new pillow or two for any season, holiday or mood. However, when IKEA came to town — I moved from pillows to pillow covers.  Oh sweet glory, pillow covers have to be the greatest invention of all time!  You buy 5-6 (20×20) duck feather pillows and keep a nice stack of covers in different colors and designs in your linen closet or hutch.  It’s genius. Better yet — they’re all WASHABLE.  No spot cleaning. Score!

When I first had my shoulder surgery earlier this year, I spent a lot of time on Amazon — taking full advantage of my Amazon Prime.  I found this awesome compass pillow cover that had a farmhouse look — one of canvas, linen, imperfect.  I refer to it as my farmhouse pillow cover.  I paid $3.15 and it had free shipping too.  I remembered thinking, what?!?!  The reviews weren’t bad, so I went for it.  It was what I expected — perfectly imperfect, giving it a farmhouse feel.

The zipper is not the length of the pillow, so using one of my feather pillows from IKEA was ideal and worked perfectly.  No ripping or tearing.  Phew!  I tried using another pillow and I could tell it was going to be an all out war between the pillow, pillow cover and myself — so I didn’t waste any more time and moved on to my 18×18 duck feather pillow.  Worked like a charm!

Here are some other great pillow covers I spotted on Amazon, ranging from $3-$7.  That beats a $15-$20 pillow, right?
