29 LPS Seniors Earn National Merit Recognition

Twenty-nine Littleton Public Schools seniors, from all three of the district’s high schools, have been recognized by the National Merit Scholarship Program for exceptional academic promise demonstrated by their outstanding performance on the Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test (PSAT), used for program entry. Four students were named National Merit Semifinalists and an additional 25 were named National Merit Commended Scholars. To be named a Semifinalist, a student must score in the top range of the PSAT.

To become a National Merit Finalist, students must not only have an outstanding academic record, they also must be endorsed and recommended by their principal. Candidates submit their SAT scores, a detailed scholarship application including an essay and submit information about their participation and leadership in school and community activities. Finalists will be notified in February.
