Most people know how competitive the cafe scene is in Singapore. However, the competition intensifies in certain areas such as the Arab street located in Bugis. Popular among tourists and locals, Arab street houses famous coffee chains and fabric shops, bringing large crowds every day of the week. We took the chance to visit Dual.sg, a cafe opened in March this year, and I wished I knew about this place earlier!

Mentaiko Pasta - S$15.00
Spaghetti tossed in alaska pollock roe, a creamy dish bursting with umami flavours. Each ingredient complements the mentaiko nicely. The texture was perfect and the creaminess of the dish did not compromise the umami flavours.

Dijon Chicken Grain Bowl  - S$12.00

You get to choose between brown rice or salad. The dijon chicken is :Dual's signature dish and it is served with roasted vegetables, sous vide egg and cherry tomato. They could use a bigger bowl though, as it was difficult to scoop the ingredients without having them falling out of the bowl.

Mirin Salmon Grain Bowl - S$14.00
You can also select either brown rice or salad for this dish. The mirin salmon is served with roasted vegetables, sous vide egg and cherry tomato. I'm a salmon addict, hence I cook salmon rice bowl almost every week and have tried different renditions of it. It would be great if they had the option to add avocado or pineapple cubes so that the dish is a little sweeter or creamier. The mirin and soy sauce was overly salty for me - it's typical for authentic japanese cuisine but I prefer a myriad of flavours dancing on my tongue!

DUAL MENU

Service was great as the crew was quite knowledgeable about their food and craft beers. I hope many more people check out this cafe, as they definitely put in effort to offer good food!
