2013-12-28

So last year I made a Bookish Resolution to not buy any books in 2013 unless it was a Mocha Girls Read book of the month.  Since there are 12 months that means 12 books in one year and nothing else. I am happy to say .... I DID IT!  But I did purchase a few books for giveaways.  Just a few. But overall I am happy about getting my book buying habits under control.

But there was a part of my 2013 resolution that I didn't really nail. I have a ton of books at home that I need to read.  A ton!  And I really want to read more than half of them.  I really want to finish this list and move on.  Call me OCD but I have 100 new books (that I didn't buy) in my house from BEA13 and I am still hooked on this list.

I am going to pledge a new 2014 resolution here to help with my bookaholic hoarding habits.

I, Alysia Allen pledge not to purchase any new books for the year of 2014.  There is only one exception.  The book club book of the month is the only book I will purchase at a local independent bookstore.  I will not purchase books for giveaways either.  I will be giving away only the books currently in my possession.  If I bring new books into my house they have to be FREE!  I can purchase audiobooks and e-books since they do not live on my bookshelf.

In 2014 I will only purchase 12 (book club selection) books and nothing more.  I will read the books in my house this year regardless of age, condition and public opinion.

This is my pledge for 2014.

What are your bookish resolutions for 2014? Do you have one?  Or am I the only one?  How did you do with your 2013 bookish resolutions?
