I've been to Bandung plenty of times but this time I went to Bandung for a special occasion. A privileged for me to be invited by Ministry of Tourism to participate in Asian African Carnival. In total, there were 12 awesome international bloggers and 8 national bloggers, and I am one of them (yay). So, what did we do? We're just having a holiday! Nice isn't it? Effectively in four days, we had a tour around Bandung and we're having fun.

The schedule was tight, we went to some of the best tourist destinations in Bandung and we ate too much yummy food. Here are some destinations that we visited:

1. Tangkuban Perahu

Going to Bandung won't be complete if you don't see the prima donna of the city. Brace yourself with the freezing weather up there but I'm sure you will be enchanted by the beauty of the crater. A barrage of local shops selling souvenirs are somehow interesting where you can find some unique stuffs and bring them back home with you.

Entrance Fee: Rp 20,000 (local), Rp 200,000 (foreigner)

2. Floating Market

If you're imagining the floating market like the one in Thailand, floating market it Bandung is somehow different from floating market in Thailand. Bandung floating market is a place for family recreation. Here you can taste traditional Sundanese dishes, play with rabbits, feed the swan, and do culinary experiences. You have to exchange money to get tokens in order to buy foods from the floating boat. You may also row the boat by yourself!

Entrance Fee: Rp 15,000

3. Saung Angklung Udjo

Surely a must-visited place in Bandung. In 2 hours, you will be entertained by kids to adults playing Angklung, a traditional music instrument. In the beginning, a short Wayang (puppet theater) was played along with the music. Then, many kids running out, playing angklung and show some dances. The most interesting part was we could try playing angklung as well! Last but not least, a performance by teenagers playing world-class songs such as semi-jazz music and Queen's famous song Bohemian Rhapsody by angklung was really amazing.

Entrance Fee: Rp 60,000 (local), Rp 100,000 (foreigners)

Schedule : 1 p.m. and 4 p.m.

4. White Crater

Another scenic natural wonders you have to visit is White Crater. Located about 50 km to the South of Bandung, you can witness the blueish to white color of the water which contains high acid. That's why, staying too long in this intoxicating crater is not recommended cause it's not good for your health.

Entrance Fee: Rp 18,000 (local), Rp 50,000 (foreigners)

5. Walini Tea Plantation

Just a few kilometers from White Crater, you have to do a stopover in Walini Tea Plantation. Park your car carefully on the street side and hop down to the green idyllic field and I'm sure you will spend hours just to take photos here.

Once again thanks to Ministry of Tourism, Indonesia for inviting us and show us around wonderful Bandung. Thanks for the warm hospitality and do invite me often for the next event, haha. Anyway, Bandung is a shopping-haven as well, many factory outlets along Riau Street and Dago Street. Last tip, if you want to explore Bandung, just rent a car or take day tour cause public transportation is not reliable in Bandung. It may save your time a lot more than taking public. So, got any insights where to go in Bandung? Which one is the most interesting for you?
