With top brands in cities up and down the country, British shoppers have more choice than ever before. From London’s world-famous Oxford Street to quieter, provincial districts in Bath and Scotland, the UK is saturated with retail havens. To help you search for this season’s special something, here is a showcase of the UK’s most fashionable districts.

Bath

Treat yourself to a designer makeover at Bath’s Milsom Quarter. From the likes of Nicole Farhi and Armani in Milsom Place to New Bond Street’s top boutiques, you’ll never be more than a few feet away from some of Britain’s most fashionable stores. For foodies, a wander around Milsom Place’s new artisans’ market should be on the menu. Get stuck into locally made cheeses, wines, jams and chutneys, before experimenting with fine teas and fresh herbs. Also look out for Milsom Street – home to high-end outlets like Reiss and Karen Millen, this Georgian thoroughfare won ‘Britain’s Best Fashion Street’ at the 2010 Google Street View Awards with good reason.

London

London’s premier shopping destination, Oxford Street boasts a 1.5 mile mix of high-end department stores, high street names and designer outlets, including Selfridges, John Lewis and Burberry. If you like to shop at a slower pace, Sloane Street has a choice selection of the world’s most celebrated labels (think Christian Dior, Valentino and Prada). Turn the corner for a caffeine fix in one of Sloane Square’s quaint coffee houses or gastropubs.

Next, head to Harrods in South Kensington, a six-floor retail extravaganza lined with designer products, gourmet restaurants and elegant cafés. Alternatively, if you’re looking for souvenirs and indie fashion, try taking the Piccadilly line to Covent Garden for indoor market shopping and seven streets of trendy boutiques.

Scotland

The famous Style Mile in Glasgow has a wide array of boutiques, designer stores and decadent bars. Tour the Princes Square shopping centre’s three floors of top brands including Vivienne Westwood and Whistles. Meanwhile, culture vultures should take a turn about the Gallery of Modern Art and listen out for events at one of the Style Mile’s many concert halls. Meanwhile, Multrees Walk in Edinburgh is the epitome of designer fashion, style and elegance, housing the likes of Louis Vuitton and Kurt Geiger, and neighbouring St. Andrew Square features Scotland’s only Harvey Nichols store.

Making a grand tour of the shops this season? To receive worldwide protection on all your purchases, why not visit American Express online and get a credit card. If you’re heading to London this summer, you can take advantage of the American Express Invites scheme, giving card holders access to the best seats at a host of restaurants, theatres and music venues.
